Brass Section with longer fall time

Postby verbalakrobat » 26 Nov 2020, 22:07

Hi there,

got my NS3 a couple of weeks ago and still trying to replace/ recreate the sounds of my previous gear.
I found a decent Sample called "Brass Section Fall Sing" and I like this one very much but the fall time of that sound is a bit too short for my needs.
Or in other words: I need the sound sustain a little bit longer before the tone drops.
Is there a way to tweak it (by length) or do I need to find a completely new sample? If the latter, does someone own such a .wav and would make it available for the community?

Searching this forum did not produce no results.

Thanks for you support! :thanx:

Cheers
verbalakrobat

:thanks:

You could try blending it with another one that has longer duration. Maybe give the second a longer attack time if you like the attack of the first one to be more distinct.

Hello, welcome to the Forum! Taking from the suggestion by alex78 until you find a sample more suitable, try assigning the delay effect to your sample for a single repeat with only the effect sounding (none of the original in the mix). Set the timing for however long you need the sound to play before the drop. Set the Amp Env Attack to fade in. Then find another sample for the other synth slot that doesn't drop and have it fade out as the other is fading in. This has a limited use, as the sound will play after you stop playing a note because of the delay effect. Morphing the levels between the two might help as well, simply turning down one while turning the other up while playing a note, that way one could be used normally and the one with the drop effect brought in only when needed. I hope you find something better, but this exercise will help in future programming also. Good luck.

Thanks @alex78 and @WannitBBBad!

I will give this proposals defintely a try as it seems it could solve some other challenges for me as well

For the mentioned issue, I might look for a better sample anyway as the other slot is already in use.

However, thanks for pointing me in the right direction!

If our suggestions have a good result and you are satisfied with it, then you could create another custom sample by recording a few notes and using the sample editor.

Now I had some time to work in this issue a little bit and as a start, the proposals helped me to find the right way.
Certainly there is still some tweaking needed but I wanted to share my current result anyway.

As I need the sound as a filling element to a very limited extend only, it is based on only two samples F5 and B5.

Thanks again for you help
