Won't Get Fooled Again

Postby Jason » 12 Jun 2012, 21:52

First attempt at creating and uploading. Band is trying to pull this one off.

I can't figure out how to get rid of the pulse.

Nice! Sounds like the tremolo effect needs a little attack dialed out. How are you creating the tremolo?

edit: "Tremelo" is in Belgium

No trem. It's all done with the wave (#6 organ) and the square LFO. Phase2 is the only effect.

Ok, so tremolo is made by a square wave LFO affecting the frequency on a filter, dialed to the extremes (on/off)? Make sure resonance is at 0, I don't think Attack in the Mod Env section will affect anything with that tremolo effect. Difficult to armchair for me, I need my board in front of me, but maybe someone else can chime in in the meantime.

Hi Jason, very nice patch! Have been working on it myself for the last days, but your patch sounds reall great. Only there is indeed a short attack in the "Quasi"-Tremolo via the LFO routed on the Cutoff, or maybe it is due to the lowest value of 0.5ms? A LFO routed to the AEG while not available on the NS would be a tad more suitable but I think it comes very close!
I finally ended up using the Vox Organ and the tremolo, and agree about the Phaser 2 being a pretty good emulation of the original sound.
Just to compare I uploaded my patch here, but not much new: IMHO, the Wavetable Organ works pretty well!

Nice Johannes ... Didn't think about it that way. The trem sounds good.

My concern with the pulse in my patch, is it's going to sound awful in a band context. Bad techno Who.

Two ones I just made, one based on your original with the tremolo replacing the LFO, and the second using the B3 sim through the same effects. Dunno if they're any closer..

Johannes - your patch sounds great! I'm trying to speed it up just a little to the original tempo of the song, but can't figure out a way to do it without ruining the effect. I'm fairly new to the Nord world, so I may be missing it.

Hi James,
in the version I uploaded, all speeds are synced via Masterclock. You can easily change the speed by either tapping the desired tempo on the MasterClk Button in the main section or adjusting it manually by holding the MasterClk button and adjusting the speed using the Value Dial.

Thanks so much, Johannes. I'll give that a try - I knew I was missing something pretty easy!
