Hello folks,
I need to play this song on my Stage 2. Research suggests this was played using an Oberheim OB-Xa (possibly both the rhythm and lead parts??).
I see that there's an OB-8 sample:
https://www.nordkeyboards.com/sound-lib ... rheim-ob-8
Some say the OB-Xa was richer and fatter than the OB-8. I guess there's no OB-Xa sample available?
Also, is there a program for this song to use this sample? How to adjust the knobs to get the two sounds (rhythm and lead)?

Re: Seeking: "You Got Lucky" by Tom Petty
Hi,
you may find something here, not sure though if that's the sound you are looking for, but worth to try:
https://johandalgaard.wordpress.com/2016/12/07/oberheim-ob-x/ => http://tinyurl.com/jyb64jb
You could also try to load the OB-8 samples from the Nord Library and try to fatten them with the capabilities of the synth section on the Stage 2
Good luck!
Edit: or try this one, add some unison and reverb to your taste, maybe EQ:

Thank you!
I have a Stage 2. nsmp3 won't work for me, right? Is it possible for you to provide an nsmp2 version for me?? If not, would you be willing to provide detail about what's in that program??
Thanks in advance!

Hi,
ups haven’t noticed that you are on a Stage 2. I can export a .nsmp for sure, that’s not a problem. I will look at it probably tomorrow if I have time before I go on holiday, otherwise need to wait for another two weeks.

How did you get such a gorgeous display of the parameters?? Is that a feature available within a certain version of NSM??

Hi, here is the .nsmp version of the sample:
This sounds nice. A few questions:
1) this would be for the rhythm / Oberheim part, not the lead / Prophet-5 part, right?
2) what would you set for synth params like ADSR, Modulation ADSR, Filter?
3) where did you get this? Did you make it yourself?

This is done with the Nord File Viewer: https://ns3-program-viewer.herokuapp.com/
You can load Stage 2 and Stage 3 program files into it and it displays all settings etc.
