Dear all,
I have been looking to create or find some good patches to play DOORS songs. But I have not found many and hence would like to start a topic about it, and also share some of my works.
A simple Vox setting or Rhodes is not so difficult, but some of the Upright/Toy Pianos, Strings, "toy" organs (for the lack of a better word) (e.g., Love her madly for the last two) are quite intriguing and I could not manage to find good sounds, so would like to hear form other players if they play these songs.
Songs I have been looking for:
1. Alabama Song (Whiskey Bar)
2. Back Door Man
3. Break On Through
4. Five To One
5. Hello, I Love You
6. Indian Summer
7. L.A. Woman
8. Light My Fire
9. Love Her Madly
10. Love Me Two Times
11. Moonlight Drive
12. Peace Frog
13. People Are Strange
14. Riders On The Storm
15. Roadhouse Blues
16. Soul Kitchen
17. Strange Days
18. Take It As It Comes
19. The Crystal Ship
20. The End
21. The Wasp (Texas Radio And The Big Beat)
22. Touch Me
23. Unknown Soldier
24. Waiting For The Sun
25. When The Music's Over
26. Wild Child
27. Wishful Sinful
Will upoad my patches later today.
Thanks!
ChE

Re: Programs for Songs from "THE DOORS"
Hi,
I have many of those programs for DOORS songs I play with a DOORS tribute band. They are mainly based on my own hearing, but also lots of reasearch for drawbar settings etc.. There is certainly room for improvement, but it might serve you as a starting point.
Also, I created some samples to include the sound effects used in Unknown Soldier, L.A. Woman, Riders on the storm, and The End.
In general, I use a Swell pedal (set to SWELL or Volume as you prefer) and set the MOD Wheel to morph between different sounds (e.g., Love her madly) or increase volume a bit for Solos).
The samples are assigned to the highest white keys (d7, e7, f7), you might need to transpose the synth section if you have a NS76 or NS88 (I have a NS73 Compact).
Cheers!
Johannes
UPDATE: corrected some programs, added the RMI sample for "Hello I love you", and set up a split for "Alabama Song" plus some minor fixes.
UPDATE: Overhauled the whole set
UPDATE: Find a great website with lots of video tutorials including drawbar settings for the Vox for THE DOORS classics here: http://shelf3d.com/Search/Uploaded%20by ... ianduran17

Re: Programs for Songs from "THE DOORS"
Glad it is of some use!
Actually still working on the programs. I made some changes, notable tweaking the samples a bit, and setting up a split setup for "Alabama Song", and tried all the Harpsicords to find the best match which seems to be (at least for me) the "French Harpsi 1E L8 L4 U8", so be sure to have it loaded in the Piano Section.
Also took me some time to figure out the sound of "Hello I love you" which is quite different from the Vox/Rhodes kind of sounds. Finally I found that Ray used a RMI Electric Piano on that song (probably a 300A) (http://graphikdesigns.free.fr/rmi-electra-piano.html)
After trying hard for quite a while without success, I had another look at the Nord Sample Library and voilá, they have a sample set of its succesor the RMI 368X, which works great
Will upload the final version later this week.
UPDATE: I uploaded the updated and fixed zip archive to my previous post.

Hi to all!
I'm joining a tribute band to the doors too and I'd like to know if any of you has sounds I can use on my NE5.
Thank you very much in advance!

Re: Programs for Songs from "THE DOORS"
Hello,
Great work on the patches sir unfortunately I'm Electro 5 so can't use you file ☹️
May I pick your brains as to what you've used for the mandolin part over "Oh don't ask why" part. I'm struggling to find a quickly picked mandolin sample. No worries if you can't help I'll just have to find an audio file of someone playing a mandolin and try and sample it myself.
Keep safe
J

Re: Programs for Songs from "THE DOORS"
The "surf" sound for "I'm Your Captain" at the following link could easily be modified for the wind in "Riders on the Storm" without needing a sample. Years ago the guitar player would shake his amp to get the reverb to crash for the thunder. nord-stage-2-programs-ns2p-ns2pb-files-f15/ten-classic-rock-and-other-programs-t7676.html

For E5 users:
Love her madley: honky tonk upright and under programB: Vox at your taste.
Both with equalizer.
