This is really a well designed and executed patch. Just the right combination and amount of effects makes the arp reproduce the exact notes on the recording. Small changes can completely negate the excellent programming you did here.
I made a couple of adjustments to it and hope to post it this weekend.
1. Adjusted the main arp sound to try to get it closer to the original "marimba repeat" sound done on the Lowrey organ. The original has a percussive and metallic quality that I have found difficult to reproduce. Still more work on this. I used Organ wave 6 instead of 7 here.
2. I moved the Main Arpeggio to an upper split so I can have the piano available for both slots, because the arp changes and I didn't want to miss too much by having to change it and switch back to slot A to play the piano chords.
3. I set up the Arp for slot A as well, because some of those figures continue along with the main arpeggio. After the first part of the song, when the piano chords come in, I turn on the ARP and Hold, hit keys C-F, and the resulting figure sounds fairly good and goes with the main arp with either the F or C chord. The figures can be changed between the phrases played on the piano for variety like the original.

Re: Baba O' Riley
Hi Whimsical,
There are three different sounds going on here and Electros are mono-timbral. Also, there is no sample involved in this NS2 program. It would technically be possible to physically sample those sounds and create a composite .nsmp file containing each sound element, but that would be quite a lot of work and would yield a result which wasn't useable anyway. The sustain pedal needed to latch the arpeggio would mess up the organ and piano parts.
Some ideas are simply not practical, even if/when they might technically be possible or very nearly so. Ultimately, it's just not going to be possible to trick your Electro 4 into pretending that it's a Stage 2. If you have a dual keyboard setup, you might be able to figure out a way to attack this by assigning some portion(s) to one kbd and have the other cover the remainder.
Easiest solution would be to get an NS2 though.
Bless,
Pablo

All good changes! I did this patch just for fun and to experiment the combination of synced Arpeggiator ad Delay, but I never used it to play the full song, your modifications have upgraded it to a better playable patch.
Well done!

Hi, Max-
Thanks for the props!
I played this for the first time in public last Saturday night and the crowd loved it. Not many bands can pull this song off, and thanks to your original program, my band mates are very happy!

Re: Baba O' Riley
My band plays this every night, so I did some additional work on this.
I programmed the main arp on my Virus, which was able to get a lot closer to the original sound. I made the Baba.nsmp from this sound and loaded into Sample slot 139.
Clock setting is 119bpm
Patch opens in slot B, just hit C5 one time and the arp will start. The Arpeggiator Hold will keep it going.
Then, switch to slot A and you play the C_D_E_F parts with the fluttery organ sound. Then, hit F and C, and lock in those with with Arp On and Arp Hold buttons.
Piano power chords ready to play in the lower split (I used the Fazioli with some EQ for this)
Enjoy!

Re: Baba O' Riley
Can't seem to copy the patch into my Stage 2. I get a "file not found" error in the nord sound manager. Any ideas why?

Re: Baba O' Riley
I found that trying to emulate the Lowrey on the Stage 3 without a sample just wasn't worth the time I had already put into it, so I turned to sampling after viewing a video posted by ajstan https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=AY6TC5USvPs. My Stage 3 post is at nord-stage-3-programs-ns3p-ns3pb-files-f32/the-who-baba-o-riley-teenage-wasteland-sampled-t16090.html. I no longer have a Stage 2 to put together a program, but below are the samples created. The original keyboard part was a bit sharp, so I took the Intro and dropped the pitch to be in tune to the piano for the first sample. The sample with the 32nd notes was created by cutting off the last half of each 16th note (C, D, F, G) and cut-n-pasting the first half again. I don't know the song yet but I play through a few notes on the MP3 so you get an idea of what you have. For the program, the bottom split would have "WhoBabaORileyFGW" with the intro pattern on the F key and a pattern on the G key for when the song changes to a C chord. The middle split would have the desired piano (I used pianos an octave apart to play with one hand so other was free for adding 32nd notes in places). The top split would have the second sample "WhoBabaORiley32W" with the 32nd notes. Take careKeywords: Who Baba O'Riley O'Reily Teenage Wasteland Lowrey

Re: Baba O' Riley
Guys,
Sorry I am so dimwitted, but I can't seem to make this work quite right on my Stage 2 EX. Which of the above programs and samples are the final product?
Thanks so much,
Mark
