Using speakers with nord piano 4

Post by SamuelR »

Hi, so i just got my nord piano 4 but im having some trouble connecting it to my speakers. I thought the "monitor in" was for connecting to speakers with 3.5mm aux cable, but i just now realized that i wasn't which i should have realized before. Anyway i wanted to ask for some advice first before i buy anything. I currently have an Audient ID4 audio interface and Bose Companion 2 Series III speakers (i know these aren't the best speakers but its the only i have atm. Im prob going to upgrade later on) is there a way i can plug these speakers and nord into the audio interface and be able to use the speakers with my pc aswell as the piano? and if could i get a diffrent cable or something to be able to plug the speakers into the piano directly?

Sorry if this is the wrong place to ask this.

Yup, that tiny jack was the monitor in. Great if you want to pipe an external recording into your headphones.

Your Audient ID4 is a 2-in, 2-out interface. So, yes, you could connect L and R 1/4" out to the ID4, connect your PC via USB, connect your speakers and you'd probably hear something or other. You also could connect the speakers directly to the NP4 with adapters etc., but the levels will be really, really low.

The good news is that you'll never bother your neighbors that way.

I think you understand that you're going to need better amplification (or headphones) to really appreciate what the NP4 can do. Looks like you're playing at home, so I'd say start with some nicer headphones and go from there.

Good. Getting anywhere near that level of sound quality from speakers will require some $$$.
