Stereo on the Piano 3
Hello, I'm trying to figure out if the samples on the Piano 3 are in mono or stereo. Or, if only some are in stereo, which ones? I'm specifically recording now with the PumpOrgan Koestler sample and trying to make a stereo pass.... thanks for any help....

Re: Stereo on the Piano 3
Hello and welcome to NUF!
All Nord Piano Library samples are stereo, which is why if you need a Mono output there is the related function (see NP3 manual) that mixes the 2 channels into one in an "Intelligent way" (to limit frequency cancellation).

Concerning the Piano Library: Are you sure about the EPs, maxpiano? I'm quite confident that all APs are in stereo from the beginning, but I've never tested with the EPs.
And with the Sample Library, I'm absolutely not sure about the stereophonic status - I estimate a lot of samples to be monophonic and only gain stereophonic impact through the effects chain.
No evidence, though.

Good point about EPs, I had APs in mind actually, need to check that.FZiegler wrote:Concerning the Piano Library: Are you sure about the EPs, maxpiano? I'm quite confident that all APs are in stereo from the beginning, but I've never tested with the EPs.

With regards to (Synth) Sample Library, they can be both mono and stereo so it depends (most of them are mono, I overlooked the OP mentioned in fact one synth sample in particular

Talking about FX chain then, also FXs can be mono or stereo so depending on how you combine them, they can alter the mono/stereophony of the original sound.

Re: Stereo on the Piano 3
I've just checked at my Piano 5:
- All acoustic grand and upright pianos and the harpsichords are stereo samples - in their raw state.
- All electric and most of the digital pianos and the Clavinets are in mono.
- The majority of the synth samples (strings, brass, choir, pads, even bass and leads ...) is stereo.
- With user samples it depends of course how the user sampled (source and settings).

And to make things more complicated the Electric Grand Amped comes both in Stereo and Mono versions.

Re: Stereo on the Piano 3
Thanks very much to everyone who replied. A bit of conflicting information, but it seems indeed that many of the sample patches are in mono.... I tried a bunch of things and did read the manual (not much in there on stereo/mono) and I'm pretty sure the patch I'm using is in mono.

I think the EP sounds mono on my NP5 too. I believe that you might set a very small amount of Chorus to makeup the camouflage of the monophony.
