You don't have the best starting point if you can't check the key action and handling of both yourself. It's more than specs that matters.

In my eyes, the Piano 4/5 has a good, solid key action that plays really fine. The action on the Grand felt even finer, but very light to me - meaning you need to play very controlled in order to keep soft and hard tones the way you want. You can't rest your fingers (lazily) on a key - it will start sounding at one or another moment. So, my impression was: I'm not good enough at piano playing to easily master a Nord Grand.

Thanks FZiegler. Excellent points, especially in regard to trying out both. Unfortunately, even when the G2 is available to try, I’d have to travel very far to try one out.

I’ve been a pianist for decades, but I also have a small studio with synths etc.

I may end up with the P5. Patience is a virtue of which I have little; it’d be painful to wait until March. Plus the cost savings is significant. I only play for personal enjoyment, not professionally and I particularly enjoy creating soundtracks etc. Since I have a Yamaha acoustic piano ( in our family room, not in the studio) I may just go ahead with the P5

New development in this case.
Since the Nord Grand don´t support the new sample format and the Nord Grand 2 is beyond my current budget, it will be a Nord Piano 5.
I tried a Stage 4 and the keybed is, acording to the seller, similar to Piano 5. That keybed will work fine for me.
I am also consider to buy a Yamaha Reface YC for the organ sound.

If organ is important enough for you to add a second piece of gear, have you considered going for the Stage so you can have it all in one package, with a lot smoother interface and lots of capabilities for the future?

Yes I have. Two reasons against.

One: Totally uninterested in the synth.
Two: Don´t have the money. My combo $2400 + $400 vs Stage 4 $4000

Placed an Piano 5 order yesterday. :)

With my usual bad timing, Nord release an 88 key Electro with decent keybed costing $3200.
I like my Electro 6, have all I need except 88 keys.

Which is quite visionary and not real at all, right?

Congratulations on your incoming NP5! I think you'll love it! That is very sound logic on why not for the NS4 (unless you were to look at a used or B-stock NS3 as an option in terms of cost similarity).

Second floor, does that make it a 'nest'?

A 'man nest'

Hey dcjams: I’ve been referring to it as my Man Lair; sounds more manly than “nest” IMO

This is quite subjective. I liked the keybed of the NP5 more than that one of the Grand1.
Very subjective. And I tried the Piano 5 at the same time I was looking at the Stage 3, and liked the Stage 3 better, despite being a piano player almost exclusively. Keybeds are a very personal thing! You can't make any assumptions and must try yourself.
