NP5: Vibrato on Sounds via Pedal

Post by Wolfgang T »

Which CRTL pedal is needed to activate the vibrato for a sound ?

(Despite the correct pedal setting in the menu, I couldn't activate the Vibarator function, at least with a sustain pedal..., maybe a VOL pedal is needed after all. !?)

It only works with the Triple Pedal or a controller pedal (e.g. Yamaha FC7):

You mean Vibrato without the last „r“, right?

Sorry for the wrong choice of words, which could cause misunderstandings (My native language is German...), at least some can smile....

The post has just been corrected !

I thought that you could possibly use a sustain pedal, since only 2 signals (ON/OFF) are used for vibrato.

My suspicion was to use a volume pedal, but the question arises whether in this case the vibrato function also works gradually or is only switched on or off.

(Unfortunately I don't have currently a volume pedal, so I can't test it)

I assume it will work gradually as the controller pedal works this way. I could test it later, I have two FC7 at other keyboards.

This would be great...

It would be also interesting to know if by using the CRTL Pedal some CC Information on the MIDI Output are produced.....

I’ve just tested it with my FC7 pedal and the Piano 5:
- The amount of Vibrato can be steplessly controlled with the pedal.
- The pedal sends out MIDI CC data (I’ve used USB MIDI).

That is a good and useful information!

Thanks for taking the time to test this.

Just for curiosity, which CC was it sending in this scenario, still CC11 (default for Ctrl Pedal on NP5) and/or the CC74 (Sample Synth Vibrato)?
