yes, 4hrs is actually the only setting possible besides "disabled", as seen for other models, so the function is there (agreed) but usually is on (with a default)/off. Interesting thing is that, still within Korg family, the SV2 is 2hrs instead, maybe connected to the valve issue you mentioned (I guess).

By the way, as you probably know, the current stage piano from Yamaha, the cp 88/73, is also called ”the black NORD” ;)

 Since I forgot to set the “auto power off” function on one of my last stage pianos (Korg SV2), and the device with the built-in tube ran for many hours after a rehearsal and was almost destroyed, I have now become very careful and appreciate the auto power function very much :!:

Um... sorry, but I don't know where you got your information, leaving a tube running for many hours will not destroy a tube. Tube equipment can run for years without issue.

and how exactly would leaving the korg on for many hours after a rehearsal be any different than running for many hours during rehearsal or a gig.

I have had some devices with the Auto Power Off feature in the past. Never once have I ever used it. I always power down my gear when I am done using it.

That's what I was thinking. And what does almost destroyed mean? Was it destroyed, a bit destroyed, or not destroyed at all?

The difference was that after rehearsal the Korg SV2 was covered with some a dust cover when it was not switched off and the tube of the Korg SV2 almost overheated after 13 hours !

It's a habit : when I'm done playing, I switch the Stage off (and all other gear).
And compared to my previous Kronos, I know I can get it back to life in few seconds, without any stress.

So that’s also the difference to the Nords - no tubes inside to be overheated, therefore should not be a problem to keep it switched on ;)

I agree with cookie - switching it off manually was something I got used to very quickly, neither difficult nor a big deal and therefore not a bummer in my opinion

Same here.
If it is for saving energy, I bet that thw auto power off feature wastes 4hs (or whatever) every time you use the instrument as it will be invariably left on every time (adding unnecessary fire risk, shock risk and electronic component ageing).
I also suspect that "auto power off" might leave part of the circuit charged or in some kind of stand-by mode (not sure how that is implemented, with a relay? and that would never fail?). Hardware switching off however should be safer in case you get a surge over the lines after a storm or similar (rare, but I have experienced one of those and know people that also got their equipment fried).
