Nord Piano 6 in 2024?

Post by onlymusica »

Hi, I am very interested in the Nord Piano 5 88 or 73 but I was wondering... if it makes sense to buy it in September 2023.
Is it reasonable to think that the Nord Piano 6 will come out in early 2024? What do you think?
Thank you!

No one knows Nord product planning here... you can make any speculation but ultimately it will be your decision: do you need it now? Get a NP5. Can you wait? Wait but you may still end up with a NP5 also in 2024.

Even if the Nord Piano 6 is announced early next year, it will not likely be available until June or July. Just buy what you want now.

Nord Piano 5 is pretty new, so I will be very surprised if they come up with a 6 the next two years.

It's much more likely the next product in line is a Nord Electro 7 with better keys than the current Fatar TP/100 - I am really looking forward for something better than the jumpy and noisy keys I have on my Electro 6 HP today...

So go buy Nord Piano 5 - you will not regret - and the key-action is really good ;-)

I doubt highly a new Piano is on the near horizon. The P5 is relatively new, and they just released a “B” version of it that includes additional capabilities.

Like Johannes wrote, I would bet the Electro is the next in line for an update.

Due to the release intervals of the NORD PIANOS in recent years, a new Nord Piano could theoretically appear in 2024.
However, since a new Nord Electro and Nord Grand are overdue, I'm guessing that one of these models will be released next year.

I'm no electronic type but to me it appears each Nord model use different internal designs (as well as keybeds.) I other words a Nord Piano isn't a Stage minus the organ and synth section. Like Korg the Kronos electronics was split up and used in other Korg keyboards and is the base of the today Nautilus. Yamaha Montage and MoDx same electronics except one less processor chip in MoDx.

I think once Nord gets all the bugs worked out of the Stage 4 they should look using the same electronics in all their boards. So Stage would be the flagship with long term design. Then Piano and the others would have difference focus like they do now, but same electronics for the feature set. That would cut down on R&D time and expense for hardware and software updates would create differences and ability to update.

Sorry it is exactly the opposite, also for Nord the HW platform is basically the same on all models of the same generation (most of all in terms of DSPs) , if you take a look at this old thread nord-stage-forum-f3/ns2-in-the-nude-t2647.html, what changes is the number of DSPs and of course the software (firmware) they run in each model.
