cphollis,
On the off chance that you have not already seen it, PianoManChuck has posted a video on YouTube called "Why I Bought a Nord Piano 4." In it, he agrees wholeheartedly with you that the NP4 action is noticeably better than that of the NP3. I'm upgrading this week.

I have compared the Nord Piano 3 and Nord Piano 4 a couple of months ago, and to me the keyboard action seemed exactly the same.

Wouldn't Nord advertise the NP4 as having better keyboard action, should they have improved it? I can't imagine them letting that chance slide, since the NP4 already isn't much of an upgrade to the NP3.

I am guessing that the keyboard action was improved during the lifetime of the NP3. It is known that the earlier NP3 models had problems with key knocking noise, but the later models with higher serial numbers don't have that problem. Maybe they also improved the keyboard action in those later models. Which is why I couldn't notice a difference, but other people are noticing the difference between an earlier model NP3 and the new NP4.

I would like to chime in here.
I bought an NP4 last Nov and was so soooooo happy with it. Action, and the amazing sound.
However, in the last I would say month or so the action ...well not the action itself, more the thunk noise when releasing the keys. I tend to play in the same middle area all the time but when I get frustrated I hit the very low and very high keys just to reassure myself that things aren't getting worse but somehow it really does seem like it is getting worse. Through my Bose L1 Compact and my headphones the thunking is so loud as it's being picked up through my mic. Verry annoying.
Also, now I have a clicking sound on a lower Bb note. At first I thought it was my fingernail so I trimmed them then I finally found out it was the Bb note after all making the clicking sound. It happens very intermittently so if I keeep hitting it the clicking may happen once or twice after 5-8 strikes or the click may happen three times in a row.
So now I am starting to wonder if it's a felt issue or because something is slowly coming loose in the keybed due to me lugging it around for gigs.
If anyone has any suggestions/advice that would be great. I am in Ontario Canada by the way. I might just call Long and McQuade (where I bought it) and see if they will fix it right away or give me a loaner in the meantime. Hell, it's only been 4 months with this and I am already considering going the RD 2000 way.
