Re: Nord Grand vs Kawai + software?

It just depends on what you are looking for in a piano, both of them are really nice pianos. The MP11SE has a piano action that's closer to simulating the action of an acoustic grand piano at the expense of greater weight and a less versatile sound engine. The Nord has a far more versatile sound engine and substantially less weight at the expense of a somewhat less than piano-like action. Different musicians would rank those things differently depending on their needs, genre, or playing style.

i bought a kawai two days ago and exchange it for Nord Grand today... the escapement 'point' on kawai is very disturbing when playing smooth parts of orchestral libraries: i use keyboard principally for use VST (ravenscroft and VSL full libraries for the pianos and many orchestral of spitfire and vsl in particular). So the keys of the Nord have not this small hard point when pressing gently and that make me the decision to exchange. i choosed first the kawai also for more useful for control the vst and daws with several midi split-channels setup ... but the playability is the more important criteria and the escapement sensation for soft playing was too boring.

as I wrote before - there is a 30 day sale on native instruments software Komplete

For people like me who don't own any native instruments software first you have to buy Komplete Select. There is a voucher 'SELECT22' which reduce the price by half (199 EUR -> 99 EUR).
The updates to Komplete 13, Ultimate cost in the next 30 days (until 06/30) 50% less.

For those of you who are interested here you'll find additional infos:
https://www.mydealz.de/deals/native-ins ... 50-1995760
https://www.native-instruments.com/de/s ... ound-2022/

Maybe it could be wise to wait what NAMM 2022 reveals if some one is interested in buying Native Instruments hardware. Maybe they will release new midi controllers but thats just my personal guess. I have no solid foundation or heard any rumor that Native Instruments will release anything at NAMM 2022.

Thanks all for your excellent advice. After a few months of searching and not finding a Nord Grand, I actually "settled" for a nice deal on a local Nord Piano 4. It really is an excellent keyboard. While I am not in love with the action, it's adequate enough for now (and I'm still not convinced I'd be thrilled with the action on the Grand, I'd like to play one first). The samples are really phenomenal. I cleared all the piano samples and started from scratch, my favorites are obviously the White Grand and Royal Grand 3D which both have excellent characteristics, but I also like the Amber Upright. The last Nord product I really got to know inside and out was the Electro 2, so I am excited to dive deep into the capabilities of this thing. I will still be keeping an eye open for a Nord Grand (or Kawai VPC1) in the future.
