Re: nord grand design flaw or defect?
If everything else is OK (eg. sound, no friction between the keys and the chassis) I would take the $500 discount and wait until I feel brave enough to open the keyboard and carefully "un-bend it" by hand.

I don't think transportation could have caused a piece of metal of that thickness to bend. I mean if the keyboard fell from 3rd floor, then yes, but it would crash into pieces. I'd say it's been like that from the beginning, for whatever reason. The fact that's evenly bent, also, would suggest this.
Also, I'd tend to think that in case of physical damage, either some of the internal components fail, and you would know, or they don't. I am not sure that a physical shock can cause the electronics to "begin" damaging, while showing no signs whatsoever of that damage, and then collapse in the future. Electronics can of course fail at any point in time, but this holds for every device, regardless of physical shock.

Wow! Thank you so much for your much needed insights. Yeah, I thought so too. I tried the Grand day and night, to make sure all keys and buttons work perfectly. I felt like everything work fine.
I agree with you regarding damage during transport - I think the problem I had was when I opened the box, the cushion that they put for both sides, one was in tact, the other one was not put in place. That's why I assumed the bents were caused during transport.
Thank you for your responses, much appreciated!

Yep, I also feel that when all keys move smoothly and when you don‘t have any malfunction then a 500 $ price off seems to be a good deal. Have fun, enjoy life, stay healthy. Cheers from Germany

Re: nord grand design flaw or defect?
The bend is hardly visible. I don't notice any functional issue. I have no concern about it.

Oh really? when you said, "slightly"... does it raise concern to you now, or you're just fine and thinking of it just as physical issue that is only aesthetic?
Did you notice any issues with the very last one or two notes on the higher end of the keybed.. as in, pitch issues or touch/ attack pressure and hammer problems?
Thank you!
