IMO this new product is just as good as its keybed is. I had NG1 for couple of years and to my fingers it had quite okay keybed but certainly not that good as it should have had based on its name and looks (large case). I always thought that Kawai did not want to give their best (or even near) action to its rival. Quite contrary. (Btw I have acoustic Kawai and have owned also their e-pianos). So let’s wait and see that how things are now.

Another thing whis was disappointment with NG1 was that it did not sync to Midi clock (delay or tremolo). It seems that this haven’t changed with new NG2.

Crap, I was hoping for NE7 this year :-) But I am happy for everyone who this product is for. I hope a lot of the specs on grand2 will make it to NE7.

The removal of the panel lock could actually be a deal breaker for me. If that’s what they did, any thoughts as to why ? Maybe the front panel is angled slightly different which could make it less easy to hit other programs ?

Strange removal. If you look the space is there for it.
Keep in mind that all the space beneath the inclined panel and also all the rest is almost empty.
Which takes me to the question: why 5mm more in depth and height? If I were to design a product I would make an effort to stick to the same chassis already in production for economy reasons. It could well be that the chassis is the same and the 5mm come from newdifferent rubber feet and bigger brackets for the music stand.
On the 0.5 kg increase I guess that could come from the bigger PCBs for the front panel and the 2 new engines. Another possibility is that they updated the action with the grading of the original RH3 or part of it. Or maybe adopting an heavier key for all the keys, which I think is unlikely because the higher keys would result too heavy

As with the Stage 4, the only significant upgrade is the pricing. Clavia continues its move to selling only to institutions, professional studios and bands, and very well-heeled amateurs.

This is what happens when you don't have a Board of Directors. Just the same 2-3 people, well past their own sell-by date, running everything. What do they care, they made their nut a long time ago, the sweathogs toiling in the factory are happy for the work...there's no pressure to evolve or compete or try something new. much less sell to the great unwashed, like yours truly.

Yamaha is looking ever better, and Korg just released a big new board too, the Grandstage X, for about $1500 less.

I will have to give the Yamaha and Korg a listen - but I can tell you for sure no matter what faults you or I or anyone perceive in Nord’s products, strategies, or leadership - I’ve yet to be moved by any other company’s flagship sound as I am with most samples from Nord. They feel emotionally more real to me than anything else I’ve heard to date.

I loved my P3 and love end more my (original) Nord Grand. The sounds are real and inspirational to me.

Yes - I wish for more revolutionary than evolutionary improvements but what we have today is still, in my view, miles ahead of anything else.

Just my $0.02 - I got yours and appreciate it…

No doubt. And the cost of that emotional lift is getting ever more stratospheric. I like owning the best in town too, but just like Gibson finally priced its Les Paul Standards and ES-335s out of the reach of just about everyone, so is Clavia positioning its Stage, Piano, and likely the upcoming new Electro for just the 1%.

I agree that Nords current pricing is perhaps gone too far…

If you check ”stage pianos” on Thomann’s site based on price (highest first) red pianos are there first top 10. And Nords are only stage pianos starting with 4000+ euros.

Even high price is fine if product is that good but is it? New Grand 2 has ”new enhanced Hammer Action by Kawai”. As said earlier NG1 was a bit disappointment to me - It wasn’t obviously best Kawai action. How does NG2 compare to Kawai MP-11 for example? Latter has been said to have best grand piano action in stage piano. Take a note that MP-11 costs 2149€, nearly 50% of Grand 2 price! In 1500-3000e price range there are very good pianos from Yamaha, Roland, Korg and also some minor companies. For example Korgs new Grand Stage X is 2777e.

To justify NG2s 4190e is must be R E A L L Y good…
