Interesting. If that's the case, I think this would be the first time in which hardware revisions add something much more substantial than the nearly cosmetic-only differences that were there with previous models.

And that's good and bad at the same time, because it contributes to further differentiate different "versions" of basically the same keyboard, putting early adopters at a disadvantageous position, and more importantly, making the interchange of Programs more difficult.

Not the first time actually, NS2 Rev B. introduced both panel controls and features (e.g. KB Gate) not found on Rev. A

As you say this is good for Rev B buyers, but "not so good" (to say the least) for Rev A owners as it creates some unrecoverable gap and (even worse) a consequent decrease of their keyboard value...

It looks as if you're right: No reuse of existing buttons, but an additional button indeed.

I bought a new nord piano 5 and I have a question: do I need to update the system to version 1.24? . Version 1.16 is displayed when the instrument is turned on.

Sure, why shouldn't you? Updating to the last stable version is in general always a good idea.

There is also a new function in this Nord Piano rev B: the sostenuo pedal of the tripe pedal board (the middle one) can be reassigned to control the Tremolo of the sample engine.

Does anyone know since which day/month Revision B of the Nord Piano 5 has been available?

Just read in the Update history following entry:

v1.24 (2022-07-19)
Supports the Revision B version of the Nord Piano 5 panel

I therefore estimate that the hardware of the NP5 Revision B was released at the same time, i.e. 07/2022.

Sorry if it’s a dumb question, I’m looking to buy the Piano 5. however, is it still a coin toss of getting Rev A or Rev B?
