Hey everyone,

Installed the Italian Grand (Fazioli) onto my new NP5 and it shows "unused" on the program list in the Sound Manager. The sound also is nowhere to be found in the list on the keyboard.

Any advice?

I was able to install the Royal Grand 3D XL perfectly, but for some reason the Italian Grand isn't working.

If you haven't attributed it to one of the programs, of course it's unused. But it doesn't show up in the "Grand" section of the Piano select? So you really can't use it?

It should be last in the grand pianos list .

And the unused is just because it doesnt belong to any of the programs

As both said,

it's not enough to load the Italian Grand on the NP5, you would have to create a program, assign it to the piano section of this program and of course switch on the piano section (dial the volume encoder up), you then would be able to play the Italian Grand. Add effects according to your taste and don't forget to save the program to be able to recall it later and play again.

Have you tried to get familiar with the general structure of the NP5 in terms of samples, programs etc.? There is a manual available and worth to read but also many Nord videos, maybe not specific to the NP5 but the basic concept is more or less the same for NP4 and earlier models and also for the Nord Stage

Yes, I'm trying. This is the first time I've ever owned a Nord so I'm trying to get my bearings, which is why I'm asking questions on the forum with fellow Nord users. It's a littler overwhelming for me at the moment, that's all. I appreciate your patience.

Don't worry, just ask - this is a great community and most of us are willing a lot to help. I just wanted to let you know that there are many other sources which can also help you getting more familiar with the basic concept of the Nords, it's worth to check these out as well.

You can play any sound on the NP5, including both pianos and the synth voices, without it being assigned to a program. Here is a way: For your unassigned Italian Grand, select one of the existing piano programs (for example, if you have the factory configuration, use A11 "White Grand"), then press the Piano Layer On/Off Buttons, A and B, as needed to have one of the two Layer On/Off LEDs flashing and the other not illuminated. Next, press the Piano Select button as needed to illuminate the Grand LED. Finally, turn the List knob until you see Italian Grand on the second line of the LCD display. The first line will still read "White Grand" but that is just the A11 program name and you've done nothing to change that name; however, the sound you hear will be the Italian Grand. I always set up a few user programs with generic names for the piano categories, such as My Grand, My Upright, My Clav, etc..., and assign to each of those programs my favorite sound from each category. This keeps me from being confused by Sound names appearing as a Program name. Enjoy your new piano!
