Cannot speak for the OP, but you simply cannot have enough Nord Grand.

I tryed and downgraded. Well. I can only confirm that the medium setting is... Let me say.. Broken.I compared the values generated watching the pianoteq screen and I go from 40 to 120 (127 when hitting hard of course) with 1.54 (all playable) while I'm staying in the range of 50 to 110 with 1.60... Something like this. So I can confirm what we are saying here and I don't get why nord went this way. Also the hard setting is more flat than before to me. So much this changes the keyboard that it is clear that we should get a velocity editor. That would solve everything.

At least Nord should make an option to chose the old velocity curves in the menu. Otherwise it will be a huge downer for early Nord Grand players, who love the original touch, when 1.61 and other firmware updates come out, giving new features, but forcing the new velocity curves out to everyone.

I love the feature for MIDI velocity curves, but I have downgraded to 1.54 to come back to the fantastic Nord Grand feel that I love to much.

If you allow me to ask.. why you have 3 nord grands?? Isnt 1 enough??

I am planning to buy one too.. i have the stage 3 88 and the keybed feels very cheap and i am just proffesional musician( guitar ) and singer for many years and i have started piano for the last 8 months now.. with my very little playing experience i can feel that this fatar keybed of stage 3 doesnt worth the money we pay and i can feel in the playing that the action isnt good for real sensitive piano playing..

I was overwhelmed with the playability of this instrument. I sold other gear to get one for my livingroom, one for live gigs and one for my holiday/weekend house. I am totally in love with this instrument and I am in chock about this "upgrade". Nord needs to add an option to select the old and new verlocity curves, while maintaining the MID velosicy curves ! Otherwise Nord --> Mord ;)

I love your triple strategy!

Would reverting back to the prior OS be a better fit for you? It seems the only change with this update is the velocity curves. Going back to the prior version should make all 3 of your grands feel - well - grand! Good luck!

I have downgraded already, but if we are stuck with the new velocity curves for all future updates, I feel screwed :/ We need a menu setting to choose between the old and the new curves. I do actually like the MIDI velocity curves, but I can't have them without the 1.60 update. Aaaaargh !

I tryed the keyboard before and after to make a comparison. I would say the heavy is now more useable (it's now possible to hit higher velocities a little easier) but with the medium setting I feel like I had a wider range of possibilities before the update. I was able to play consistently softer than now. Strange move from nord on this... At least these are my feelings, don't know if someone can confirm

Also my experience.
Medium was good in the previous firmware, but now I want a setting between medium and light.
Anyway getting used to it when playing a bit longer.
More of a chock… triple sensor is not implemented in MIdI out. Please see my separate topic.

I don`t Think that the MIDI standard supports the tripple sensor signals. The sounds are re-triggered with the lowest sensor, while sustaining that single note. Maybe the MPE standard could be used, but still the connected MIDI expanders and keyboards would not be able to interpret the information

Yes, MIDI was developed way before triple sensors were in place.
That doesn’t mean Nord should have implemented a note-on note-off strategy in their MiDI output on basis of the 3rd sensor information. A sensor is just a sensor and it’s information can be translated into the functionality a standard is offering…

Playing the new velocity curves for a while you can get used to it, though all feels heavier to me.
As part of a different comment towards Clavia (about triple sensor MIDI behavior, see other topic), I got the following response.

"Regarding the velocity curves: It is quite uncommon that we do changes to an area like this after an instrument has been on the market for some time. We did feel however that the Grand would benefit from curves that provide better control especially in the higher regions (MF through FFF), and we do believe that most Grand users appreciate the update so far."
