Not sure what is supported in the NP5, but what version of the Sound Manager do you have?
v7.60 (2021-08-13): User created .nsmp files can now be converted to .nsmp4 format for use on Nord Piano 5
Latest version is v7.66

Latest OS is v1.24 (2022-07-19)

I am afraid it literally means that NSM conversion works with "user created" .nsmp but not with official Nord Library .nsmp (we discussed this in another thread, if I remember well).

Wtibbit reported that he was able to successfully load my "user created" Hammond NSMP file to his Piano 5 (nord-piano-grand-forum-f10/nsmp-conversion-to-nsmp4-using-nord-sound-manager-t21845.html?hilit=hammond#p153910) however he was unsuccessful in loading a Nord-created NSMP3 file. Based on the wording in the Sound Manager update, it sounds like only "user created" NSMP files can be imported; it would interesting to know if anyone has successfully loaded a Nord-created NSMP file into their Piano 5.

Thanks. I must say that I have not been paying detailed attention to all this (I have a NS2). Surely there should be a way of converting those so newer instruments can load old samples. Hope that Clavia sorts this out.

I even tried to make my own sample from the famous Roland Finger bass (XV3080), but the sample sounded really weak in the nord. Maybe I have to bring my macbook to the gigs just for a good bass sound...

If the sample is weak maybe you need to normalize it (i.e record at a higher volume or post-process it with an audio editing tool like Audacity) before converting to .nsmp.

PS: you may also try this free samples pack https://sc-sounds.com/basses.php

In addition to the guidance above from maxpiano, with the Nord Sample Editor 4 you can also boost the sample on any note range by up to 9db, but you have to be careful to avoid clipping. Good luck.

Now I have the Fender sound in my Nord Piano 5. A friend of mine gave me his nord electro and I sampled the Bass sound for my piano 5 with nord sample editor - works fine! just the volume of the sample is a little bit low.

You can reload the project and fine-adjust the signal amplitude of each sample (and the pitch) in the sample editor and create the nsmp* sample again.
