AUTO-SUSTAIN PROBLEM
AUTO-SUSTAIN PROBLEM
Hallo! I have a huge problem. I’ve bought new Nord Grand last month and it had problem, when i pressed high keys (from F3) they were under sustain (i was unable to play staccato!). So they sent me new one and there is absolutely the same problem!
I CANT play staccato from F3 up... Its all under sustain pedal even when the pedal is absolutely disconnected! Is there any way I can set this weird behavior in settings or something like that??? Thank you!!!

That is part of the design... Real pianos work like that. No damping in the high octaves. Nothing wrong with it.

Re: AUTO-SUSTAIN PROBLEM
Hey Pauli, if you are talking about the upper one octave and half (i.e. from the upper C down to the G one octave lower) then this is normal, it emulates the same behaviour you find on a real acoustic piano where those notes are undamped.

Re: AUTO-SUSTAIN PROBLEM
Yes, that's exactly it and it is OK, it is the same on my Nord Stage 2 and all Nord models having a Piano section; try on a real piano and hear yourselfPauli wrote:
Are you sure, that this behavior is OK?
PS: that note is not F3, is F5 and undamped piano notes start from G5

Re: AUTO-SUSTAIN PROBLEM
Its doing it from F3.. This is F3, not F5. You cant even play F5 on piano.

Re: AUTO-SUSTAIN PROBLEM
Whaat!!?? In common/MIDI note naming the central C of a keyboard is C3 or better C4 (on a piano, according to standard notation, so yes I need to correct my previous statement's octave, but increasing), so that note is actually F6Pauli wrote:Its doing it from F3.. PS: consider that standard concert pitch is A4=440Hz..
See https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Scientific_pitch_notation if you still have any doubt

I too confirm it's normal behaviour for an acoustic upright and grand piano to do this. Try playing a bluthner grand and listen to the bass and final upper octave ring and sustain, it's the way pianos are designed and as these are sampled from the real thing, even the sustain, hammer articulations, etc are sampled. it's what makes a nord grand, even a nord stage 3 as a good as a real piano. better than other digitals on the market. Welcome to the stringed world.

Re: AUTO-SUSTAIN PROBLEM
We are in agreement Pauli, you talk about a different index, I am talking about standard/MIDI notation convention and also in your diagram (where is it from btw?) that is called the "6th octave" and C6 on the "scientific" rowPauli wrote:Its from this note.
