Any news or insight on potential launch of Nord Piano 5 ? - or is the strategy we all go to Nord Grand ?

Re: Any news on Nord Piano 5 ?
Interesting question. In addition, what would be the wishlist for NP5?
Better keybed?
More memory?
Better speed when transferring sounds?
Others?

no one here knows anything about that...keep in mind that this forum is not directly affiliated with Nord in any way
lots of people like to have fun with speculation, but that's all guesswork and wishful thinking and not based on any insider knowledge

97 keys to make full use of the Grand Imperial Sample
Now THAT would be unique haha
On a serious note its a sensible reply. Hard to see what else they could improve aside from the memory.
If you want a piano only focussed instrument then In my mind of the current product range the 'Grand' has replaced the Piano albeit its not quite as portable as the Piano models given its size and extra weight.
Nord Piano 5 73
Yamaha C6 Grand
Gone but not forgotten

I still love my Nord Piano 3 but a 73 (or 76) key version with the same action would be great (like Korg with their SV2). The bottom and the top end of the 88 key range is mostly a place where my one year old kid wants to break in

Re: Any news on Nord Piano 5 ?
I realize that the Grand is most likely the future strategy and it is for sure a great Piano.
However, I still believe that Nord need to maintain a more portable version of their great piano series. Light as NP3/NP4 and/or in 73 key version. And then MORE MEMORY.
Feel free to bonce any ideas to the NP5 wish list
Lightweight/portability
Upgraded Key bed
Larger Display
73 key version
Memory expansion - build-in/external
Etc.

Re: Any news on Nord Piano 5 ?
What might make sense - and what would be quite different from the Nord Grand - would indeed be a HA 76 version of the Nord Piano. For those of us who want portability but still a usable action for piano (better than the waterfall action in the Electro) that might be attractive. It sure would be for me, on a number of occasions. 76 keys is enough for many uses.

Re: Any news on Nord Piano 5 ?
One guy’s opinion - if you’re calling it a Piano product, it’s got to be 88 keys. 76 or fewer just feels like a different space. I suppose if you did the 76 to start at an A and end at a C, you could at least (with shifting) hit the bottom and top ranges of a piano’s 88 keys (some might argue you need 97 for a Bosie ).
As for memory, I just got the Grand with 2Gig and love it - though I wonder why there isn’t enough to just load the largest samples of every current Piano and whatever may come for the next 3 years. What would that be - 5G? 10?
I also think the Piano hardware is about Piano feel - so far the Grand just nails it. But I get the weight thing. Years ago I had a 76 key Yamaha (forget the model) with more of an organ feel. Weighed next to nothing. Easy for travel. Tough to get excited about playing.
Seems the Grand is at the center of a Venn diagram on portability and piano focus (it’s not much heavier than the Piano 3 I had but the feel is definitely superior). Maybe the other (wooden) Kawai action would branch to “the home/studio” non-portable Grand, the current Grand for a certain feel and then the 5 would have to distinguish itself somehow purely on portability with at least as much memory as the Grand if not more. What do I know?

Re: Any news on Nord Piano 5 ?
I seem to remember Nord saying early on that the Grand was not intended to replace the Piano line. Rather, it was the start of a new line of it's own in addition to the Piano line.
Nord Grand, Nord Wave 2, Yamaha YDP-184, Arturia Keylab 49 MkII, Studio Logic SL88 Grand, Pianoteq 7 Pro, Garritan CFX, Teenage Engineering OP-1, and a smattering of Ukuleles.
