Just wanted to reiterate this discussion on the future of the Nord Piano product line. Is Nord Grand the only answer or will there be a space for NP5?

Nord will of-cause stay silent on this discussion but extremely excited about what will be the TOP news from Nord at coming NAMM week in January 2021?

Any guesses?

I think it's worth noting that when Nord started selling the Nord Grand, they did not stop selling the Nord Piano 4. Had the Grand been intended to replace the Piano line, they would have stopped selling the 4 in the same way they stopped selling the 3 when the 4 came out. And I still remember reading something where a Nord rep said the Grand is the start of a new line, not intended to replace the Piano line. What that means for the near future and a Piano 5, I have no idea, but my bet is the Grand is not stopping the Piano line.

Isn't the Grand something dedicated for living rooms and studios? I like it, but I wouldn't buy it to take it to rehearsals.

The Grand can be "portable", but I'm sure it wouldn't be many people's first choice for a gigging instrument. So yea, it's more likely going to be a home or studio instrument.

I had a Piano 3 and now have the Grand. To be honest, it’s not much heavier at all though it is bulkier for sure. Much easier than moving a Yamaha C7 so plenty portable I think - and the difference in touch was well worth it in my view. As for a 5 - no idea....more memory for sure - but what else??

No bugs, better quality control for the keybed, 8 gigs memory. I don't know though... After reading about this double note thing and my experience with a lightly used key bed starting to make knocking clacking sounds on the rebound, I don't think I'm going to buy another Nord product. Well... I guess I will wait and see how their support responds to this design flaw - apparently only affected early serial numbers.

Are there any news on the Nord Piano 5?
The Nord Piano 4 has been announced almost three years from now, so I guess it is reaching the end of its planned product cycle either this year or next year. Do you think it will be released this year or do we have to wait till after a new Nord Stage has been released and the next generation piano is then due next year?

Hey, in my eyes, it's a bit demanding to proclaim the end of the Piano 4's life cycle. I don't have it. But I'd prefer it over many newer instruments. As I see it, Nord isn't in a hurry to release the successor.

But welcome to the forum! And to be honest - it was about the same question I introduced myself with some time ago, just respecting the Stage.

The Piano 4 has been out for almost three years now and the product cycle seems to be 2-4 years
