Hi all - I’ve taken to using an app on my iPad to be my “fake book”. Wondering if the NP3’s USB port (which I think is for MIDI?) can be used to provide power/charging to my iPad while playing?
I assume a cable like this would be correct. https://www.amazon.com/KINGONE-Controll ... B07CMHJ7ZB
Maybe this is used to drive Garage Band? But can it provide power too?
Thanks!

Re: USB to Ligthing cable for charging?
The NS3 has a USB Type B port (device) which cannot charge by definition, you'd better get a Lightning USB3 adapter https://www.apple.com/shop/product/MK0W ... ra-adapter and use the iPad own charger (+ a standard USB A/B cable for the NS3 of course)

Just to clarify your point - are you saying that the USB 2 port sends no electricity to charge an iPad? If so, I don’t understand what the adapter can accomplish. If the P3 doesn’t send electricity from that USB port, how would an adapter change that? Thanks!

The USB adapter you posted just creates a USB connection, same you would have between a printer and a computer; the USB3 Lightning adapter has a double function instead (by design and it uses a separate port for charging, check its pictures and specs...)

Yes, but that defeats the purpose of (hopefully) not needing to use another AC power cord to provide power to the iPad.
I guess what I want to do can’t be done. Thanks for your insights!

Re: USB to Ligthing cable for charging?
How long are your gigs? What model iPad, from what year?
(My iPad Pro 12.9” (1st gen) is usually down to 60% charge after a 3-hour session. I use ForScore, and keep a Bluetooth MODI connection to my E4 throughout. The MIDI is just for patch changes, no soft synth/sampler.
iPads are usually designed to last about ten hours on a full charge (depending on what you’re doing, of course). If you’re getting significantly less than that, and it’s several years old, maybe consider having the battery evaluated for replacement?

Thanks - just a question of convenience. Not mission critical. Thanks.
