The action on the nord piano I got is insanely difficult for me to play on. I would compare it to a grand with the lid closed, then add on another 50% weight. Fast scales / arpeggios, anything difficult is basically impossible. Certainly doesnt play like in the nord demo videos where the guy is gliding across the keybed.
I contacted the vendor I bought from, not sure what there is to do about it but replacement or have them recalibrate it. Im really bummed about this because everything else is perfect. Right now Im controlling it with the vpc1 and it sounds better than any VST combo I have tried including ravenscroft. It seems like the perfect combination.. but its really hard to justify a $2500 sound generator. I guess I am wondering if anyone else had the same experience and needed to replace theirs.. particularly the classical trained pianists here..
This for example would be absolutely impossible on the nord I got

Re: Nord Piano 3 Action
I got a reply from the vendor. Apparently this is not the first unit to have key issues, so I guess its a known thing. They told me to contact nord..

I'm no fan of the Fatar keybed but just wanted to be sure you have adjusted the keyboard touch option which has 3 ranges. This is in your user manual:
KBd ToUCH
Pianos from the Nord Piano libary typically have a very wide dynamic range, and their dynamic response can be adjusted according to what ts your personal style or the con- text of your performance.
The lowest KBD TOUCH setting (1) facilitates playing softly yet expressively. With each increment of the Kbd Touch setting (2, 3) less effort is required to play loudly.

Re: Nord Piano 3 Action
So to update this.. after sitting out a few days, inexplicably the action of the keybed has apparently adjusted itself into a normal range.. it is the most bizarre thing i have seen.. but I can say it is now usable, much better, even though I do prefer the feel of the Kawai VPC, it is definitely playable and decent. Not a deal breaker like it was before..
