Nord piano 2 active speakers
Hi all,
I've recently bought this piano and struggle to fit very adequate speakers without any compromise.
I've heard that genelec 8040b are quite accurate but dont have a chance to try it.
What do you think of Adam A7X ?
Thanks for any feedback
regards

I did too. Not the same budget but veeeerrryyyy good ... probably the best for me. If you can test them quietly, you could plug your phone and play the Nord demo's as I did. Very interesting to hear clearly the difference between models. But you have also too choose a music you know good and play it on different models, switching one to one other.
Cheers

Re: Nord piano 2 active speakers
I have Genelec 8030´s combined with a Yamaha HS8s sub. This speaker combination is a full fledged solution for a good Nord piano sound with a wide stereo field. The midfield range of the Genelecs makes a good job, regards the difficulty to make a non nasal sound in the upper midfield area, that often interprets in a acoustic piano sample. The 8030+sub have also nearly the same price as a single pair of 8040´. If you don´t have space for a subwoofer in your room, go for the 8040´s. If you have space, is it well worth to go for a 8030+sub. Then you can feel the bottom space in the piano body too. Remember the choice of speaker setup is very indiviual. It is your experience, in your room, with your ears, that determine the final result for you.

did you try normal music on this set ?
Is there a significant quality difference between 8030 and 8040 ?

The demos I mean are those on the website.
But you have to use a nice phone for that with good audio output.
Otherwise your music on different speakers is the solution

Re: Nord piano 2 active speakers
Yes, I play normal music in my setup, in many different genres, and I am very happy with the result. I have the setup in my studio, and these type of speakers Genelec, Yamaha, Adams and so on, are made for translate the sound as adequate as possible. A mix from a CD for example, will be heard so nearly the original mix as possible, in your speakers too. I have test many of these type of studio speakers before I bought the Genelecs. There can be some differences in the sound character, that will be the reason of your choice in the end. For your second question: The Genelec 80-series have the same quality over the whole line. The sound character is made for an adequate curve. The biggest difference between 8030 and 8040 is the bass respond in the lower end. The 8040 goes a bit deeper. In my opinion, there is no difference in the midfield and top register. If you go for a sub, it will overlap the bass/middle register in a good way. If you will use the speakers in a studio mixing situation, you have to go without sub for the best mixing result, but if you will listen on music, the sub make a better experience. It will be more parameters than a good speaker, who will make a good result for the sound. I have seen many posts in the forum, there people says the piano sound is crap. It´s the combination of speakers quality, room acoustic ambience, the place of the speakers and so on. When I bought my Nord Stage 2 EX, I was a little bit unhappy with the piano sound in my room too. Now, with some simple job with the room acoustic and the speaker position, I am very happy with my Nord piano sound experience.

Re: Nord piano 2 active speakers
do you mean that sound was crap due to room accustic insulation ?
my nord stands in the leaving room so no chance to make any foaming on the walls
will the bigger size compensate this issue ?
/ sorry for the questions but still making sure before pressing the button
cheers
