No A1 included, maybe in future, or the layout might be too different comparing regular straightforward synths.

right, maybe they feel it hasn't proven itself yet and/or maybe it's coming, cause they'll add more synths they say and are taking requests

But for someone like you I'm guessing it'd be cool to own 2,5 cause you'd get the Lead 1 and 2 synths in software form, plus all the other stuff. Pretty good deal (if you like the sound of the two of course)

I might sell my 2x and get this instead, if it sounds as good that is

 Ehm, I have Omnisphere 2.0 but don´t use it as synth, don´t like to turn knobs with mouse.
I use it for FX and sophisticated arps and pads.
It´s still a beta version, the real one will be published in summer.

Herbert

You should keep friendly, please. Otherwise try it yourself and spend the money for it.

Nord Leads in Omnisphere are modeled waveforms - if you don't have the actual Nord Lead to control Omnisphere with, all you're doing is using Nord Lead samples/waveforms in the usual Omnisphere engine.

Modeling is probably not the correct terminology here. What Spectrasonics has done, is created very sophisticated controller maps for certain hardware synths (including the NL), and added filters, waveforms and other features to Omnisphere to accommodate/approximate the hardware versions of each synth where ever possible in the confines of Omnispheres architecture. I don't have any of the supported hardware, but still have access to the 1000+ new patches they created using that hardware as controllers. A lot of them have a very noticeable analog feel to them, based on the hardware used to create them.

Comparing Omnisphere to a full blown version of any of the supported hardware is really not the point - the point was allowing very good one-to-one functionality to Omnisphere when using that hardware, allowing you to control Omnisphere in a meaningful way without keyboard/mouse. So you touch a filter on the keyboard and the same set of filters show up as options in Omnisphere etc etc. It is really more deep than just one-to-one controls but you get the idea.

So in effect you are using the actual Nord Lead hardware, if you own it, (with the audio outputs muted) to create Nord Lead type sounds within Omnisphere - that is the flow.

Right, I did find out on my own eventually, but thanks anyway.

On a similar note I demoed the Discovery Pro VST tonight. I think its a really great 2x emulation, comes with 5000 presets, built in delay and gate and phaser and chorus and a randomize function, it can send sysex to the 2x and receive them too, it's cool as hell. Definitely getting it. I find it wayyyy more inspiring than my A1 which I'm probably gonna sell

Omnisphere sounds nice and is fun. If I didn't own all this hardware, I'd consider it.
