Nord Lead 4 arpeggiator - help needed
Hello guys,
Can anyone give me some tips or pointers to tutorials on the NL4 arpeggiator?
I was trying create some typical lead arpeggios like the for instance the one at
(time: 0:55)
but I can't!
Either I don't understanding something or it seems very limited (only up and/or down). The patterns seem to run at very low speed against the master clock.
Can anyone help?
Thanks!

These sound like they are making use of Patterns. Make sure the arpeggiator is synced to the master clock and turn rate to full.
The various patterns are available by pressing shift+pattern, page 15 in the manual.

Thanks! I tried that but all patterns seem to run really slow. Is there a way to change speed within a given pattwrn? The manual doesnt say anything about it...

Patterns don't have a speed, they run at the arp rate. Turn your arp rate or master clock up, as usual...

@23skidoo yeah, but the rate knob is on 10 which pattern mode. And patterns apparently only define rhythm, not note sequences. Sequences seem to be only up and/or down, or random. So patterns like the one on the youtube video I sent dont seem to be possible. I'm starting t believe that that arpegiator comes from somewhere else...

You have to change the master clock rate (mstr clock button) - tap it or hold it down and turn the data encoder.
If it won't change, that means your NL4 is receiving midi clock - in that case, unplug midi/usb or cancel midi clock send from whatever is sending it to the NL.

Yes, that I can do. But i cannot reproduce the pattern in the video. It looks like its a 16th note pattern but with different not straight note sequence. Something like a 3 note arp sequence 32132121.
I tried to mess with the delay also, because when in sync it complements the arp, but got no luck.
I also questioned the author, but since he is selling the patches he probably wont reveal his secrets...

He might also be playing chords in the demo, so even if you bought them you might not be able to reproduce it exactly.
But hey, you might stumble on something even better while you try.
Good luck!

Pretty sure it is technically a "sequence" and not an "arpeggio", i.e. sequenced from an external source like a daw, however "arpeggio-like". Most trance-arpeggios are in fact sequences, and cannot be done on most hardware arpeggiators.
The notes at 0:55 are #|: c2-f1-f2-c2-f1-f2-c2-f1 : | etc, and cannot be simply played using up or down arp modes.
As you discovered, yes, the "patterns" in the NL4 are only rhythmic patterns and don't influence note order. (I don't find much use for them, a rhythmic-pattern-arp is only useful when 16-step+programmable)
On a side-note, the NL4 "knows" the measure starts when synced to midi clock and will make the arp cycle always start on 1. So f.e. it will always play the lowest note in a "up"-arp on 1. That is very useful when playing live and midi synced; few hardware instruments behave that way. Most can't even beat-sync.
