NL2 as controller expression pedal function

I have my NordLead 2 set so an expression pedal mirrors the mod wheel.
When I use my NL2 to control other hardware synths the expression pedal doesn't function?
The mod wheel does and so does the sustain pedal.
Is there a way to set this so the expression pedal mirrors the mod wheel when controlling other synths?

The mapping is probably internal to the NL sound engine only, not a MIDI setting, so I am afraid that the control pedal is always transmitted as a MIDI CC11 (expression pedal) and you have to map it to ModWheel or any other destination on the slave synth.

I was afraid that might be the answer.
Interesting when I use NL2 to control VSTI it finds the pedal as expression volume or what not.
