Can't Solo Slots in Performance Mode on Lead 3

Hi,

I just got a "new" Lead 3 and I can't solo the slots in Performance Mode. I was hoping I would create performances that would mimic the song mode in my Nord Stage 3...different programs for use within a given song (Performance).

The manual clearly says to double click a slot while in Performance Mode, all other slots go off, and you can hear and edit the soloed slot. That doesn't work. If the Performance has an empty slot, I can press that, all the slots do go off, and if I hold down the slot button, the slot is soloed.

Any advice or guidance on this? I don't want to always have to have an "empty" slot in my Performances in order to solo the other three slots/programs.
