Why does my MIDI in not get passed through to USB MIDI out?
Does anyone know of any way to make the Electro 5 HP pass MIDI through from the MIDI IN port to the keyboard’s USB MIDI output? It seems like this should just happen as default but it doesn’t, even though my MIDI IN from another controller keyboard seems to work fine…. I looked in settings and couldn’t see anything pertinent. I hope this is possible?

Not generally normal for MIDI out to mirror MIDI in, that is what MIDI through is for, otherwise you'd end up with MIDI loops.

This is not possible on the Electro. I have a number of synths that do allow the USB or MIDI DIN input/output to be echoed. So on the Roland RD88 it is possible to send the MIDI arriving at the USB port to the MIDI DIN out - this can be described as a "Soft Thru" meaning the MIDI out can act as a MIDI Through and can be turned off in software. The Moog Sub 37 has very comprehensive USB/MIDI port routing and you can send any input to any output. This has the potential to create MIDI loops though. Even the Behringer Odyssey allows USB to MIDI DIN and MIDI DIN to USB routing. Nord prefer to keep the MIDI DIN and USB MIDI Inputs/Outputs completely separate on the Electro. Less for the user to worry about!

Does this also count for the NS2? I want to send separate Program Changes to both the Nord (MIDI Channel 1) and to a Roland JV1080 (MIDI Channel 2) connected via the MIDI out.vcfvca wrote:This is not possible on the Electro. You can definitely do this using the External section for each panel on your NS2. Extremely flexible once you dig in and set up each panel to control different channels and gear.Delaney wrote:Does this also count for the NS2? Yo cannot do it as a standard MIDI Thru/Merge but, as EricL said, it can be done using Extern section of NS2 as a way to send PC to the JV (see MSB/LSB and PC and SenOnLoad parameters of Extern Section in NS2 manual); of course you will have to program the JV PC on each NS2 Program's Extern section, so that from a MIDI perspective the steps would be:Delaney wrote:Does this also count for the NS2? 1) PC/tablet with setList app or other synth (MIDI OUT) -> (NS2 MIDI IN) send Bank and PC to NS2
2) NS2 Program -(NS2 MIDI OUT) > (JV MIDI IN) send ExtSection Bank and PC to JV
