VOX SOUND
Hi. I am a piano and keyboard player. I love the VOX sound on the Nord Electro. I am very interested in purchasing one but I am a bit intimidated by all of the buttons. How does one get the VOX organ sound? I've played around with store models and I haven't been able to find it or figure it out. Thank you in advance for any advice you can give.

Re: VOX SOUND
The electro and stage too can look intimidating by all the buttons, but in reality to me it's a lot simpler to navigate than it looks. It may be different than your average keyboard, but after receiving my electro 5 HP I had no problem getting to know how to use it. Being intimidated should not stop you from getting it, it's such an awesome instrument. I don't use organ much, primarily piano so I wouldn't be able to advise about the VOX.

Upper left, right below the volume button, there's a black button that lets you cycle through a number of organ types (how many depends on which version, 1 - 6 of the electro). When the organ part is active, most often the LED at B3 will be lit. Press it repeatedly until "vx" is selected. There you go.

Worth the effort, very useful for the retro 60s stuff I love to do. E.g. "I'm Your Venus". The crowd loves it when I bring it out. Stands up quite well against a loud band as well.
I think I have gear issues ....

Shocking Blue? That's no Vox! It's a Wurli, or maybe a pianet. But you'll need the Vox for Light My Fire...

Can you give a little more specific instructions? I know how to cycle through the organ types but I thought the sound you are playing comes from the program area on the front panel. Do I need to turn that off if I only want to use organ? Im completely confused. ANy advise you have would be appreciated. Thank you

Re: VOX SOUND
Well, after you have read the manual , be aware that the program part is about selecting and saving presets. Each preset exists of one or more instruments. (a preset or program is one or more instruments + their mapping on the keyboard + the eventual effects and settings you apply to them) This does not mean that you must always play from a saved preset. You can adjust the currently selected preset and, for example, select organ when you are in a piano preset and play the organ. And if you then select the vox, you play the vox. You can of course also add some effects to your sound. If you like the sound you are playing, you can save that setting as a preset, which you could call "my cool vox preset". Next time you select that preset, you will play your cool vox preset.
Hope that makes some sense.

Re: VOX SOUND
Any advice on the Vox organ drawbar settings for light my fire. All pulled out with some over drive added?
