Using Other Samples

Postby wcx08 » 16 Sep 2012, 18:24

I'm currently playing an Electro 3, and have recently been using the upright bass sample that came with the keyboard. It's an alright sample, but there's something lifeless and mechanical about it. I previously used the upright sample in Reason 4, which also has the same lifeless characteristics, but one thing I do like about it is the string slap/buzz on the lower strings, which makes it sound a bit more real. I was wondering if it was possible at all to load other, "non-Nord" samples to the Electro 3 sound library...Something such as this:

Or do all Nord samples have to be supplied by Nord in their own proprietary format?

Any information would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks!

You can create your own samples based on WAV files (16-bit 44.1 KHz in stereo, but I think you can also use mono or a lower frequency). So you either need WAV files to start with, or you need something you can convert to WAV files.

As far as I can tell, you need to use the product you linked with special software they provide to you for free (likely a VST plugin). That means you'd probably need to sample the output of that plugin to get a WAV sample, but that's something you can also do with Reason.
