Using Electro 4D as a MIDI controller [USB]
Hey guys,
The manual says that the 4D can transmit and receive MIDI data via the USB interface but it doesn't appear to be working for me.
Any ideas? Do I need to change something in the menu Midi interface is already set to USB.
I've installed the USB drivers and I am able to use the Nord Sound Manager but Pro Tools doesn't recognise the device.
Help would be wonderful.

Select the nord midi interfase as midi in and out in Pro Tools.
Usb is working well as you can use the editor...

Thanks Leo but the Nord doesn't come up in the Pro Tools MIDI menu.
Any advice?

ProTools is Mac, yes? If you are using Mac, you should not need drivers for USB.
I'm not familiar with ProTools, but it would seem that any DAW should have a config page for Midi input and that the NE4D should appear on the list of available devices. Have you tried rebooting ProTools? The computer?
Bless,
Pablo

As Pablo saids, there must be a list with all the available midi devices in Pro tools to choose from.
The Nord must be connected off course.

Salud y larga vida a Nordkeyboards

This is an English language forum only and it’s a sign of respect to this international community to stick to this language instead of using others like Spanish - how would you feel if you ask something here and you would get answers in Danish, Polish, Korean, German or any other language of the people here?

You are absolutely right. Except for one thing: this is an English language forum, so it is you who should use Google translate.Memexnord wrote:usen ustedes el Google Translator para llevarlo de español a inglés.

Re: Using Electro 4D as a MIDI controller [USB]
Translation, thanks to Google:
Does anyone know a good tool to show the available USB devices and any characteristics?
But you'll have to let us know whether it's Mac or Windows. I believe ProTools can be run on Windows, so it's not implicitly a Mac.
That's a good point, though I suspect that it's not your issue. If that was your issue, you'd be able to select the device in ProTools but you wouldn't get any MIDI from the keyboard when you play it, and/or it wouldn't respond to MIDI from the DAW. But it's still worth trying! The nord electro 4d allows you to choose to use it as midi from the midi port or from the usb port. It is chosen by pressing shif + midi and at point 2 it has to be with the letter U.
Then from the nordkeyboards website download the clavia usb driver so that it recognizes the keyboard as a usb controller and that's it.
