Two pianos on NE5

Post by Groovy »

As stated in other threads in this forum, you cannot select two different pianos for Part Lower and Part Upper. In have thought of a way to overcome this limitation. This page:

http://www.nordkeyboards.com/sound-libr ... -keyboards

- is a part of the Nord Sample Library and contains sounds that can be installed in the Synth engine. It contains both acoustic and electric pianos. So, in this way it is still possible to play, say, a grand piano in Part Lower and an electric piano in Part Upper? I guess the only limitiation will be that you cannot use the special piano features like string resonance in the part that plays the Synth sample.

Can someone confirm that this workaround is actually usable?

Yes. You are correct. Its not really a workaround. Those samples are .nsmp files. The files in the Piano Library are .npno and have the string resonance features and other enhancements.

From the Nord site...

The Nord Piano Library is a specialized library for acoustic and electric keyboard instruments and incorporates a number of unique technologies in order to create the most realistic reproductions of the original instruments.

To answer more directly, it is usable as you describe. You can play piano .npno samples on the lower part and piano .nsmp on the upper or vice versa. Its just that the .npno files are specialized.
