two electros as organ manuals

Apologies if this was already covered somewhere else, but I couldn't find the answer I was looking for (I'm somewhat of a novice with running midi).

I've been playing the NE2 for the last 10+ years and just upgraded to the NE6. Instead of trying to sell my 2 I figured I'd be able to use the two in conjunction with midi...I'm sure I'm just overlooking something but so far I have been unable to run both electros as individual organ manuals. I've been able to connect the two with midi but the split point on the 6 is still active on the 2.

I thought I'd be able to run the two as two independent manuals regardless of the split point on the 6. As it is, the two keyboards have been reduced to basically being mirrors of each other. If this is the case I will likely try to sell my 2.

Read page 23 of the Electro 6 manual carefully, especially the section marked "EXTERNAL KEYBOARD TO LO".

As 23skidoo says, you need to be in EXT KBD TO LO mode.

In addition, you need to ensure you transmit on the EXT KBD MIDI channel (default 16) and not the GLOBAL MIDI channel (default 1) from your NE2.

ahhh thank you. I needed to fix the midi channel on the 2. running great now
