[SOLVED] trouble with sound manager

Postby martymags » 30 Dec 2019, 05:35

Hey,

I just got an Electro 6D. I updated the OS, and tried installing the sound manager on my computer, but it says it doesn't work with the keyboard that is connected. On the website, it says the new sound manager (v7.52) works with electro 6, but when I run the software, it says "Your version of Nord Sound Manager cannot handle the content layout of the connected Nord instrument. Please upgrade Nor Sound Manager by visiting nordkeyboards.com".

Also when I run the sound manager, under "about" in the menu, it shows all the instruments it's compatible with, and Electro 6 is NOT on the list. Is there a way to get a previous version that will work?

Hmm it should work - which operating system do you use and did you install the latest USB driver from Clavia it it is on Windows?

Hi Marty,

That's really strange indeed.
I'm running MacOS, but in Nord Sound Manager the Electro 6 does show up as supported.

Next to that as Schorsch mentioned: are you on Windows or Mac?
For Windows you need to install the driver anyway (that doesn't explain why it doesn't show up as supported device in NSM).

Maybe the OS update was not successful.

Also check you have the right version installed - sound like it was an old version somehow. Is the version number listed on the about?

Yes, it sounds like you are still running the previous version (the new version will not replace it, it will just add, you have to uninstall the old one manually). Check the version in the "About" and in case of doubt remove all versions currently installed then install only the latest.

You did not told os which computer you was using, Mac or Windows?
For some reason, when I try to update Sound Manager on my Mac ( running on 10.14), it might be a bit tricky to update the Sound Manager. The new version do install, but the older version keep popping up, so I had to manually remove the older version.

Could it be that you are fighting with the same problem ?

Hello,

Thanks for the replies. I had an older version of Sound Manager installed. I'm not sure how that happened. I thought I downloaded it off the website, but maybe I installed the one on the disk that came with it? Anyway, problem solved - thanks for your help!

PS -- it's nice when the original poster changes the subject line to include a [SOLVED} at the beginning of the subject line so that other forum members can know that there is no longer a need for assistance and also so that others experiencing the same or similar problems can know that there is a solution in the thread which may apply to them. AFAIK, only the OP can edit this, though perhaps Moderators have that ability as well?

bless, pablo
