The Doors Waiting for the Sun (help)

Postby ellervis » 20 Mar 2020, 03:27

I can play Waiting for the sun now, but i don't get what sound it is, and how to make my nord electro D playing echo thing, you know when i stop hitting a note, the sound stops, but his sounds continue a little bit and fadding off like on this clip here: https://youtu.be/11cKjvo1BZA?t=17

So how to set it up right? and i mean as you can see sometimes he moves his hands and the notes still playing a nd feeding out on my organ sound it just stops imminentlywhen i slip my fingers.

Hi! in your video the guy plays together with the original song, so I believe the echo-like sound you describe is some guitar harmonics. What I would do is split the keyboard with a vox organ on the left and a rhodes piano on the right (actually those were the instruments Ray used) and add a subtle delay and some reverb. However the vox organ will need some tweaking to find the right sound. In any case the best advice is to trust your ears, don't be afraid of tweaking different settings and finally chose those that sound good to YOU.

You've got the correct sound? It's a layer of the Gibson organ and an RMI Electra harpsichord sound, which you can get here:
https://www.nordkeyboards.com/sound-lib ... ectra-368x

Load that into a program, and then turn up "Release" on the samplesynth, which is what allows the sound to ring out after you let go of the key.
The Nord giveth; the Nord taketh away…
"The Angels of Libra are in the European vanguard of the [retro soul] movement“ (Bill Buckley, Soul and Jazz and Funk)
The Drawbars — off jazz organ trio
