stuck on stupid problem: how to separately program parts?

Post by drizzlemonkey »

I've read the latest Electro 5D manual three times and played with the knobs and dials for an hour to no avail. I want to create a program with different settings for part upper and part lower. How to do this simple basic task?
Also can anyone recommend better sources than the Nord user manual for learning how to use the 5D?

You don't explain very precisely what you are attempting to achieve. You may need to accept that the description of what's possible that's written on p. 5 of the manual is not very clear:
Electro 5 manual wrote:The Nord Electro 5 is a bi-timbral instrument, meaning that it allows you to play two separate sounds simultaneously. These sound sources are referred to as PART LOWER and PART UPPER. For each Part you can choose from one of the three sound engines:
• The Organ Model
• The Piano Engine
• The Sample Synth
You may need to know that there are only 3 sound engines to choose from (the aforementioned). There are no two piano or synth engines you may use at the same time. Only the organ has two presets that allow to play organ with two parts ('manuals').

So you are somewhat restricted in your choice.

Thanks! That helps a lot. So...to create a program with upper and lower organ parts with different drawbar settings, I adjust the drawbars and press Preset 1 for the lower part, then adjust drawbars and press Preset 2 for the upper part, then store the program? I believe I have made that work on my keyboard but still not sure whether I'm missing something.

If I read the manual the right way, you select the preset to edit by the respective preset button, then adjust your sound and then press [SHIFT][PRESET1] which is [DRBR SYNC]. So it's more of the other way round: first the preset button, then adjusting.
