Why couldn't the Nord Stage 3 fit into that rig? You could easily replace two boards with it.

Like I said, "You might be able to come up with a 2-board rig that covers the same territory, but I think that would require purchasing at least one new board, so that's not necessarily a very cost-effective solution." He's looking for an affordable 3-tier stand. Buying an NS3 is going to cost a lot more than the stand solution, even if he sells two of his boards to finance it.

All I know is, if you are a gigging musician doing 100-200 gigs a year, optimizing equipment setup / break down / maintenance, and reducing opportunity for failure is high priority.

We don't know how many gigs he's playing. And if someone has a 3-board rig that works for them, yes, there's some more setup/breakdown time, but I wouldn't assume there's any significant difference in maintenance required or likelihood of a failure. In fact, if a board DOES fail, you're better off having two remaining working boards to get through the gig than if you only had one!

On my two tier I chopped the height so I can set my top keyboard over the back of the legs and I shortened the arms so it sits further back over the top of my lower keyboard.

I have an unmodified 3-tier that I purchased before I bought my NS3. I was going to add a 3rd keyboard to my setup.

I'm using the 3-tier stand for practice while I get my NS3 setup to replace my NE5, so you'll get the benefit of seeing what they look like together.

The two tier as I said I modified so my NE5 could sit on top of the stand.

I have a silver spider pro with 2 tiers but you can add a third. It's plenty strong enough for holding heavy keyboards, although mine is quite old and does have a couple of stress fractures on the underside of the legs (maybe the farf 202R is to blame for that). I actually find it to have quite a significant footprint and presence on stage (the bass player reckons it looks too 80s or space age), so I use it at home and have a couple of less intrusive black 2 tier X-frame stands for rehearsals and gigs. I got them second hand and can't remember model numbers right now.

I wonder if the Spider Pro would be tall enough to stand if you add a tier? he sits on a tall stool but he may stand for live gigs. I think he is using the Yamaha for moog sorta sounds

The Spider Pro is quite tall and keyboard height adjustments are completely flexible. Pretty sure you could set it up to play the top 1 or 2 keyboards standing (I sit). One thing I find is the floor real estate is a bit limited if you have more than 2 pedals, which I guess would be the case for 3 boards. And because of the laid back shape, the front feet might interfere with your boogyin if you like to move around a bit.

You can also add a 3rd tier to the Apex 48 pro. I stand with 2 tiers and mine is pretty close to the top, but it depends on your stance and the height of your boards.
