Stage experience with the Nord5D?
Hello, is there anybody who can tell something about his stage- and/or repetition experience with (single) use of the Nord5D.

I want to know something about the practical usability of this keyboard on stage.
For example: when using the A,B,C en D knobs within a song or when you go to another song. Do you have to deal with strange transitions or something like that. In short, what's the practical usability on stage?

Re: Stage experience with the Nord5D?
Since you are playing the keyboard it's all about you and how well you can navigate around the keyboard. IMHO the Nord is easy to navigate on stage.
Re: Stage experience with the Nord5D?
The NE5D has no smooth transition between programs, if that is what you were asking. The sound cuts out.
The NE6 (just announced) and the NS3, however have smooth transition.

The program navigation on the NE5 is poor. I added an iPad mini to mine so I have direct program access which is fantastic, but there isn't a native way to do that on the NE5 by itself.
The NE5 sound cuts out when you change programs and you have to re-trigger the sounds by re-hitting the keys. I play with two keyboards, and NE5 and an Alesis QS8.2. In a 3-4 set show 40-50 songs I only rarely run into an issue with patch changes affecting my playing.
However, if the NE5 was my only keyboard it would likely be a more intrusive issue.
If your shopping for a new keyboard I would definitely wait for the NE6.
Interestingly enough my now 15+ year old Alesis has seamless transitions. Play and hold anything and it will continue to play and hold that program/patch even when you switch programs and the new program/patch is available instantly for any newly pressed keys.

Re: Stage experience with the Nord5D?
Comparatively few keyboards actually have that function, though a number of sample-based ones will just continue playing the sample but switch everything else (effects, routing, etc) to the new patch. Which isn’t much better than just momentarily cutting out unless you’ve carefully programmed the patch sequence to minimise the change in sound.

@cgrafx: you mentioned direct program change access with your iPad. How are you doing it? Particular app? Thanx in advance.

I don't know about him, but I use Setlist maker by Arlo Laech (well, now, I use the multiple players version of it, Bandhelper...). It has a very large users audience on this website and the guy who is developing it has a very good customer service....Also, note that Setlist maker doesn't support anymore the web data base synchronization, Bandhelper yes....In other words, if your Ipad runs into issues, you will loose all your settings unless you back it up regularly....With the web data base, it's done in real time....So a big plus.
Oups, sorry, Cgraf has put Setlist maker in his signature, then, you have his answer....

Re: Stage experience with the Nord5D?
Seems as if things got messed around a little bit. It's me, Tasten-Bert, who has Setlistmaker in his signature, so I know about the possibilities of this app. I asked cgrafx what app or other function he uses. The reason for asking is that I don't want to use Setlistmaker to change the programs because it switches only to the program which is connected to the song. I'm looking for a way to choose any program directly in an easy way, for example button 123 and sound 123 is there. Thanks again in advance.
