Postby Adri-L » 10 May 2019, 00:16

Hi everyone,

I bought a Nord Electro 6 today and being busy to figure things out, but i guess i already found a limitation of the Electro.

I want to have a split with Strings on the lower part and a Saxophone on the upper part, please tell me this is possible otherwise i have a problem.

greetings and thank you for your answer in front.

Adri

Hi! The E6 can do splits but those can be only between different sections, e.g. organ+piano, piano+synth etc, but not synth+synth. Please corect me if I'm wrong, I don't have a 6...
However, with the sample editor you can create a sample instrument of your own containing two (or more) different samples, defining exactly where you want the split point to be and then load it in your electro. This can be done with sounds you have recorded in wav. format (from your electro or any other instrument) but not with samples from the nord sample library (they are already in nsmp. format). If you study how the editor works you will find it's quite easy. This way I have made some sample instruments with splits for my E4, although this model does not support splits.
Good luck!

Something you should have in mind is that when you record wavs it's better to do it without effects and apply them AFTER you load the sample on your keyboard. And before loading the wav files on the editor be sure that they are in a satisfying amplitude (maybe you will have to fix this with an audio editing software)

If the extra money is not an issue for you go for it, You will have all the splits you want plus a real synth engine, plus many other goodies....

In most cases, I agree... But in this case (creating your own split of two sounds within a single custom sample), there may be an exception, because once you load the sample into the Nord, it will no longer be possible to put any effect/EQ/etc. on one sound without simultaneously putting it on the other, which may not necessarily be what you want.

Hi!

I have a question
May I upload a sample sound to the piano section, and then split o layer with another synth sound (or other sound from the synth section)

Thanks!

You cannot upload samples to the piano section; it holds only Nords official piano voices (acoustic, electric, clav, etc). In a pinch, you could use a Rhodes in stead of a bass if you want to play "bass" and lead in a split configuration -- but it's not a real bass, just a substitute that can work in a pinch.
