Sample Editor Blank File Issue
The Sample Editor documentation says you can make a key silent by assigning an empty wav file to a key. However, when I do this I get the error message:
Encoding failed: Invalid loop settings, zone [any key] (sample ID 180)
Any ideas? Thanks.

Re: Sample Editor Blank File Issue
Got the same issue with latest version (2.28).
Anyway knows how to resolve this?

Re: Sample Editor Blank File Issue
There are limits to how silent the silent .wav file can be. The Nord software will not play nicely with a completely blank .wav file. There must be some signal present. Just last week I happened to be working on creating some custom samples for a special project designed to play a loop (in Stage synth section with HOLD on) and needed to insert a "blank" .wav to make it easy to turn off the loop at any moment. I took a snippet of sparse sound, EQ'd extreme high end and low end frequency content out of it and then smashed the volume way too low. Of course, it didn't work. Then gradually raised the level (editing in separate DAW) bit by bit and retesting until it did work correctly. Attached is a copy of the resulting .wav file. It should work for you, too.

Thank you very much pablo, that indeed helped!pablomastodon wrote:There are limits to how silent the silent .wav file can be. The Nord software will not play nicely with a completely blank .wav file. Before that I've also got "encoding bandwidth error...".
Any idea why Nord tool doesn't support specifying absolute key ranges, especially for un-pitched samples?

Re: Sample Editor Blank File Issue
I haven't had any issues with completely silent .wav files, they just have to be long enough in length. I've been using 5 second blanks.pablomastodon wrote:There are limits to how silent the silent .wav file can be. The Nord software will not play nicely with a completely blank .wav file. Re: Sample Editor Blank File Issue
That's good to know, but a 5 second long sample occupies a fair amount of memory. I guess these days with larger memories that's not a big deal, but my brain is apparently stuck in old skool mode, bent on conserving as much space as possible.

Re: Sample Editor Blank File Issue
The samples do get compressed by the editor when output to the .nsmp file.pablomastodon wrote:That's good to know, but a 5 second long sample occupies a fair amount of memory. But here is a 1.5sec version if you'd like that instead
