Replacement encoder (potentiometer?) for Electro 5

Postby onthecorner » 02 May 2018, 17:20

I need to replace the Electro 5 version of this part, which is plastic: https://syntaur.com/Items.php?Item=3175. The stick snapped off when my Nord fell off a table and hit the hardwood floor face down. It's the part that selects presets, setlists, etc. So nothing I ever need, really ..... :(

What's left of mine is still functional, I can rotate it by putting pressure on it, either with the wheel or pressing on it with my thumb.

I understand replacing the part requires soldering. The guy I use (recommended by Pablo) is great but usually has a long backlog. So I'm also considering just trying to superglue the cap back on. Terrible idea?

If I do have it replaced, I'd like to get the part ahead of time to expedite the process , so any advice on where to look for that specific part would be appreciated.

EDIT: I believe the part is an encoder, not potentiometer?

If you are in California, the best Nord Service tech is there. He will have to order the part as well.

Where are you located?

You could also just ask what ever service location is going to do the work to order the part ahead of time and then schedule your repair after the part has arrived.

The link posted points to a (very expensive) pot, not an encoder. In the NS2 the program selector is an encoder, not a pot.

Thanks for the info everyone. I'm reaching out to American Music and Sound to see about getting a replacement part ahead of time. I miss the buttons ....
