Romantic Upright, is it me or..

Post by Davyk Al »

Hey guys, I recently bought a Nord Electro 5 HP and I just downloaded all the sounds I wanted, well almost. I am way impressed with most sounds, however the romantic upright sounds way belly in the middle range in large. I do not know if that is normal. The belly notes are from F to G# and it bothers me when I play it. Is it normal, part of the piano sampled or haven't you guys noticed, if yes, do you like it?

Hi,
I noticed that as well. It sounds as if there is a metal resonance. It may have sounded that way when sampled... It doesn't bother me, actually.

I guess it depends if you want it "authentic" or "pleasant".

  • Hammond SK2

The older samples are starting to show their age a bit. It was inevitable - they are small and as technology marches on, our ears become more attuned to the newer stuff, and the flaws of the old become more apparent.

I know some players still swear by the Rain or the Studio Grand 2, but really, if you've got a newer Nord with its larger space, how much time are you going to spend on these? What I would like to see is some newer, larger files for a few of the classics, like the Blue Swede or the Grand Lady D.
