I use the default as well, but I did a small bit of EQ tweaking. I have EQ1 set at -4.0 dB, 1.00kHz, Q=1.0.
There's just a touch of "pitchiness" to the sound, particularly for the APs. This takes that harsh bite out of the sound for me.

I use the default and EQ with a mixer also. Like Rusty Mike I do reduce the mids a little around 1.00kHz - but only for the AP's.
Nord Electro 5, Mackie mixer, pair of QSC K10.2's, Mogami cables

Maybe because you play mainly jazz trio and big band? Before tweaking the EQ, I tend to try to find a Piano that fit the song first and with the huge library I ended up EQuing very few times...

You are absolutely correct. I tend strongly toward a darker, more “vintage” type of sound profile. I’m attenuating where many players want to boost.
I also prefer to stay with a few go-to samples and keep my choices small. Part of it is understanding how that particular piano is going to react to my playing and then making the most of it. I know how the Grand Lady D and Amber Upright will work in the room through my QSC’s.
And, of course, it’s less stuff I have to keep in my head.

How does the QSC 8.2 sound with the Electro 5D Hammond organ simulation? Enough bass response? Thx, I am considering buying one.

Re: QSC K10.2 or K12.2 for keyboards
I tested the k10's against k12's with a Nord electro in the shop before buying. It was hard to tell the difference so what was the point of paying more. I'm Scottish with short arms and deep pockets so it was a no brainier. I use two k10's in stereo with my NE5d. I play in a covers band about once a month in a medium size hall to about 170 people. The K10's are superb. I never have them up full and it's a loud band. It doesn't seem to matter where they sit, you can always hear them even when I turn one on its side. I can honestly say it's the best rig I've ever had. Good luck with your choice.
