NORD Electro 5 - Possible CHORUS/VIBRATO Issue
When I am in organ mode and have the chorus/vibrato (it occurs on any of the chr/vib settings) engaged and pull out the 3 lowest drawbars I hear an intermittent spitting/clicking sound. This only seems to happen when playing 4 note chords. When the chorus/vibrato is disengaged it does not happen and it is not noticeable if the rest of the drawbars are pulled out. I was wondering if anyone in this group has experienced this? Also, is it possible that it is the overdrive causing this because chorus/vibrato does boost the harmonics and on the Electro 5 even with the overdrive set at 0 there is still a bit of growl to the tone.

Re: NORD Electro 5 - Possible CHORUS/VIBRATO Issue
Update - I have created a service ticket with NORD and have emailed them an MP3 file recorded using the left/mono direct out of the Electro 5. NORD support is currently reviewing the problem.

Re: F.Y.I.-All Electro 5 Users *****Please Review*****
Hi Richard,
Nord has been able to reproduce this artifact.
I’ve done tests here now, and can in fact reproduce this. It is not specifically tied to using the C3 chorus setting, but it seems that in some circumstances the B3 model can reach level peaks that cause audible clicks when hitting the Rotary. This gets noted as a defect for fix here (as usual - can't say when an update will be available). This is especially noticeable when maxing the volume of the Organ with the Part Mix knob, and seems to not occur - at least not with "normal playing” - when Part Mix is in its middle setting. So the advice - until fix is out - will be to avoid maxing the volume of the organ, if his programs and set-up allows for that.
Yours is the first and only report I've had on this issue, so I guess you can take credit for having been the pioneer on this one (if that's any consolation). As my colleague states, it will not be possible to predict exactly when Nord's Development Team will be releasing an OS update to relieve this condition, but it will certainly happen in the course of business. Chances are that the upcoming NAMM show and new product release are taking their full attention at the moment, now just basically two weeks away.

Hi Pablo,
I also posted something up the other week about weird sounds from the Rotary sim with particular drawbar settings. I also contacted Nord support, which Rob at SoundTech picked up and forwarded on. Nord have confirmed that it may be linked to the same problem and will also address it with this lates OS update. Hopefully, this will put to bed many of the issues that many users had with the organ and Rotary changes made with the NE5D. Fingers crossed!

Re: NORD Electro 5 - Possible CHORUS/VIBRATO Issue
Hi
I've been reading your posts because unfortunately the same is happening to me with my Stage 2 88-key
The sound goes off mid-gig when you least expect it, just for a few seconds but it's highly unreliable. I've eliminated other factors that could cause the issue i.e. new cables, no sustain pedals, different channels and even mixers and the problem still happens intermittently. It might be after 2 hours of playing sometimes even less, and also sometimes it doesn't happen. What I haven't tried yet is seeing if it happens on the headphones output too.
One thing I noted is the way the sound goes away. It doesn't cut sharply like when you have a loose connection or anything similar. It's like someone quickly turns the volume down (smooth but quick fade out and fades in just the same way). Sometimes it happens 3-4 times repeatedly and then it settles back to normal for (hopefully) a while.
Any help and updates on this issue is greatly appreciated. I don't have any substitutes for this keyboard so I can't really send it overseas for weeks just to try to fix it. (probably will take long since problem is intermittent)
Thanks
Izzy

What you describe is completely different from the issue in this thread, and a different model, as well.
Did you perhaps accidentally post in the wrong thread?

Re: NORD Electro 5 - Possible CHORUS/VIBRATO Issue
I posted here because this is the closest to my problem, I didn't find any other similar posts. Also I believe that the different model shouldn't matter that much as it's practically the same years of production hence alot of same hardware is used. I guess I'll start a new thread. Thanks for your input..

Re: NORD Electro 5 - Possible CHORUS/VIBRATO Issue
The Stage 2 and the Electro 5 are 4 years apart (launched in 2011 and in 2015), and even if they share some similar elements, they are different enough to be able to each have their own issues
The OPs problem was about clicks when playing 4 (or more) note chords with vibrato/chorus engaged and pulling the drawbars. You problem appear to be related to intermittently fading sound (maybe a problem with your volume pedal or cable, or an issue with the wheel), seemingly not specific to the organ.
The only thing in common appear to be the red colour of the unit and the fact that it produces a different sound than expected
So yes, best to start a new thread, thanks.

Re: NORD Electro 5 - Possible CHORUS/VIBRATO Issue
Maybe the original rotary speaker (Leslie 122) has distorsion by design when the drive amount is set to zero.
Nevertheless I’d like to have no distorsion when I set the drive amount to zero on the NE5D.
The NS3 does not have this problem. 0 is 0. You can have a clean sound.
The NE4 and NS2 do have this 0 possibility.
Can the NE6 have a clean rotary too ?
Another particularity of the NE5 is that pedal down to zero you still hear the organ.
I started to believe that NE5 was programmed without any zero. Like this book with no “e” https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Gadsby_(novel).
By design an organ swell lets us hear the organ, so it’is well implemented.
On other Nord board mentioned you can choose between swell or volume control.
When set to volume control the pedal down to zero position completely mutes the organ, as expected.
I’d like to have this setting on the NE5.
