I just bought a nordstage 3 and I want to use my old nord electro 3 as a midi input to play some funk whit the waterfall feel. But there is no sensitivity when I hit the electro 3. what to do? I am midi rookie so please help me.

Is the NE3 playing correctly (being velocity sensitive) when you select e.g. a piano program on it?
How is it set up when you play it via MIDI? It's been a while since I've MIDI'ed my NE3 to something else, but I guess it might be possible that if you have selected an organ program and have set the keys to be activated on the upper contact that MIDI is sent out at max velocities... so try to select a piano-type of program, and/or change the key activation to be on the lower contact (I think this is also an option on the NE3, no?).

Yes, I have found that if I have my Electro 3 set to an Organ sound, and use the Electro 3 as a MIDI controller for an external rack module, then there is no velocity sensitivity, and it sounds as if I am pressing every key at max velocity, no matter how I actually press the key.

As baekgaard alluded to, It's not tied to using the organ sound per se, it's tied to using the high trigger point. Velocity is determined by the time it takes to go from the high trigger point to the low trigger point. If you generate the sound from the high trigger point, it is impossible for the keyboard to calculate a velocity. It works fine for organ because organ is not a velocity-sensitive sound.

Re: No sentivity when i hit my nord electro 3 on midi output
there is an available menu adjustment to switch between high trigger and low trigger on organs in the SYSTEM MENU: Organ Trigger Mode. Yours is apparently currently set to FAST (high trigger). Change the setting to NORMAL (low trigger) and it will no longer matter what type of program is called up on the NE3.

But then you lose the beauty of High Trigger when playing Organ (on NE3 itself or external); I would leave it on High then I would just create 2 "mute master keyboard" programs on the NE3, respectively one with Organ (velocity=no) and one with Piano (velocity=yes) section on, then connect also NS3 MIDI OUT to NE3 IN and use one NS3 External section to recall either of the two on the NE3, as needed.

You are correct about that. If the OP is 1) only interested in using it as midi controller and 2) less sophisticated about these things, the simpler answer might be better, but as her/his knowledge/experience increases, Max's solution will be a better one, more flexible.
