NE5HP Program Change MIDI in MIDI out

Hi everybody
I'm new to this forum.

My setup is a nord electro 5 and a roland juno boutique (midi in from ne5). I'm trying to send prgrm changes from ableton to ne5 via midi to switch programs but it won't let it thru to the juno. I want the juno to switch the same as the ne5.
when i switch programs manually on the nord then the juno switches too. but not from midi program changes from ableton. if i send it directly from ableton to the juno, it switches. but i need the midi in of the juno to play it via the ne5.
maybe I could buy a midi merger between the ne5 and the juno for but i would love a soultion without.

can anybody help me?

I don't think this can be done with just the Electro 5, since it does not offer MIDI Thru functionality if I'm correct. Therefore the only way is to use an external midi device like a merger.

Correct or (easier and cheaper) connect the computer running Ableton also to the Juno, but via USB MIDI

Hi Schorsch an maxpiano. Thanx for the fast response!
The Computer with Ableton is at the drummer's place. To far away and to complicated for a long usb cable, since ther's already running a midicable for midiclock and program change of the TC Voicelive vocal fx.
If Ableton could switch programs of the NE5 and the Juno aswell it would be perfect.
I think I'll give the MIDI merger a try?

Well if you have that problem of the distance, then yes the only alternative is the Thru box (or better a Thru+Merge, because on Juno you need to Merge both Ableton and NE5 MIDI flows at its MIDI IN).

................................................->PocketPiano (for MIDI Clock)
................................................ ->NordElectro MIDI out -> Roland Juno Boutique MIDI in

That's correct, if you still have one free port on the ThruBox you can do that

For the Program changes, if you use the NE5 in KB SPLIT MODE (i.e. using the Upper part to pilot the Juno) then you may set the Juno on a different channel than NE5 Global and so manage different Program Changes for each unit. If not... same channel and so the PC will affect both units which need to have programs "in sync"
