Hi there,
I am using the boss fv expression pedal..i assign layer volume to it mostly and i have observed that even when my setting at the pedal is minimum(there is that knob at the side that defines the range of the pedal), when the pedal is all the way up i still get sound from the layer that is supposed to be muted? Any clue?

Re: NE5 and Boss FV pedal - cannot totally mute layer
Is this with the B3 organ? If so, it is how it should work; it is not a volume but a swell pedal.

In the System menu, you can select from a list of supported control pedals. Boss FV500L is there, do you have that selected? When you're in that menu, if you operate the pedal, you can see the range covered by the pedal from 0 to 100%. The only thing that could explain your behaviour (unless it's for a B3 sound), is if it doesn't reach down to 0%.

If you go into the menu, on newer Nords, you can see the current value read off the pedal vary between 0 and 100.
Not sure if this is possible on the NE5, but you could have a look and see if the issue is that the pedal never gets to 0. Have you turned the knob to its minimum setting too?
Also, have you selected the right pedal type?

Does the pedal have a value-knob on the side?
If so, make sure its turned to zero.

Re: NE5 and Boss FV pedal - cannot totally mute layer
Just to throw more info on the fire, I got tired of the cable on the FC7 going bad and decided to try the Moog EP-3 Expression Pedal. Works just like the Yamaha, and the cable is a TRS plug in instead of a permanent installation...tony
