When using EP3 pedal from Moog with my NE5D I sometimes experience strange sound flutter, like small rapid changes of volume. Sometimes bigger changes also, sometimes nothing. Drove me crazy until I figured it out. Anyone noticed anything similar? I wonder if the pedal is faulty or what.
My other pedal is Yamaha FC7, did not notice any such problems with it.

Re: Moog EP3 expression pedal flutter
Some have reported success with using the Moog pedal, but it is not among the recommended pedals... If all seems good when FC7 connected, suspecting the Moog pedal would seem logical

Re: Moog EP3 expression pedal flutter
Hi! I'm experiencing this volume/expression pedal fluttering as well. I'm using the Moog EP-3 with Nord Piano3 and FatarStudio 900. The only times it stays at 100% or 127 is when I consistently & firmly add pressure to the top of the pedal. If I let go it will fluctuate wildly in the high range. The range settings seem to be fine. I'm desperate for a solution if you have one. Thanks in advance for any info!

yes.. this exact same thing happened to me. i fixed it by purchasing a new TRS 1/4" cable for it.

Re: Moog EP3 expression pedal flutter
Hm... I have a EV5 which works perfect in the NS2 but behaves a bit erratically (values jumping up and down) in a part of the pedal movement range in the MODX8 (most likely the MODX8 is expecting an FC7 pedal which has a different valued potentiometer).
Anyhow, I wonder if adding a capacitor between the T and S would work as a kind of poor-man's low pass filter on the changing expression signal and smooth out any transients due to the charging and discharging of the capacitor?
I have not seen this described for expression pedals, so maybe it does not work.

Re: Moog EP3 expression pedal flutter
When I first connected my Doepfer d3m to my NE5D (same model that the OP has), the same thing happened to me; something like a small, rapid tremolo effect on all sounds. The Electro did not respond to the expression pedal, a Boss FV500 in my case - every time I engaged it, the volume briefly went up or down accordingly before returning to 100% almost immediately.
I was on the verge of returning it to the store, but after I disconnected everything, turned everything off, and started setting everything up again, only adding elements bit by bit - guess what? Nothing. In the end I had the exact same setup (or so you would think), but this time everything worked. No flutter.

Re: Moog EP3 expression pedal flutter
I exclusively use Yamaha FC-7 pedals because 1) they behave predictably for all the keyboards I have ever connected them to, 2) they have some excellent adjustability, 3) they are very easy to bolt together in a row (for live work I have three of them bolted up always in the bag, makes setup easy and they are very stable. I wish I could find a sustain/switch pedal that bolted up 2 or 3 together as well as these always seem to get away over an hour or two.
